Which one should i go to? Has anyone been to either?
I live in RI and URI has a much better reputation. URI is in the middle of nowhere but has a nice college town feel. RIC is in kind of the sketchy part of town but you could easily get to the rest of prov for more of a city feel. What’s your major?
I want to major in biology or computer science.
In my opinion, URI has a better biology program. I can’t speak to computer science.
If you calculate
(tuition+ fees+room&board) - (scholarships and grants)
how much does each cost?
DO NOT factor in either loans or work study, but do mention whether you were granted Perkins or work study at either one.
Uri has more merit based scholarships
^can you answer the actual question asked in #4.The amount in scholarship doesn’t matter, what matters is the result of that specific calculation for each of them.
What is uri like?
I don’t know the answer to that.
The question is: what is your final cost at each before loans and work study? What do you have to pay for Tuition/fees/room/board at each? URI is the state flagship, try reading the URI forum

Look at the admission materials you were sent, including financial aid award.
This would be crucial information.
Also, what are your stats (GPA, AP/HOnors classes, SAT/ACT scores)?
3.7 uw, 1 honors class, 1410 out of 2400 sat, lots of extracurricular activities
URI would likely be better wrt your stats, since you’d make Honors College.
Where else have you applied?
And enter the numbers asked in #4 please - these should be found on your portal or letter of admission within 2 weeks of admission. If you ahven’t received your FA package, call the Admissions Office/Office of Financial aid.
I have applied to Rhode island college.
I just finished estimates for fafsa. My parents tax forms came late.
I mean, beside URI and RIC, where else have you applied? UMaine Farmington, UMaine Fort Kent, or Presque Ile, all have interesting admission deals.
Also, have you checked out the “new england tuition break exchange”?

Shoot, I just saw it was 1410 out of 2400 - I thought it was out of 1600 hence Honors COllege suggestion… I apologize for the mistake since 1410 wouldn’t qualify you for honors, obviously :s. But the universities above still stand as valid options. Run the Net Price Calculators to see which ones would be cheapest.
Also look into some SUNYs - Old Westbury, Brockport, Plattsburgh, perhaps even New Paltz, Oneonta or Oswego?
