URM and Law School Chances

Hello,

I just graduated from college with a 3.6 gpa and plan to score around a 160 on my LSAT.

I am an African American female, have lots of extracurricular activities, and strong letters of recommendation.

What are my chances?

Well, not to dilute your scores and grades, but there is literally a law school for every type and quality of student. More appropriate question what schools do you have an interest?

What school did you graduate from? What are your interest and how do they correlate to the field of law you want to go into?

You can’t bank on a planned LSAT score…

I graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California. I have several internships with law firms, and was Vice President of the law club for 4 years. I’m planning on appllying to UC Hastings, Santa Clara Law, UC Davis, USF, Golden Gate, and I’m going to Hail Mary to Stanford and Berkeley since they are also local.

If you score 160 for real, no Boalt Hall or Stanford for you. 170+ will seal the deal at Boalt Hall though.

Golden Gate is a debt trap; full-rides there mean that you have to maintain some ungodly high GPA for renewal.

UCH: Aim for 160+
Santa Clara: Aim for 156+
UCD: Aim for 161+

You can try UCLA and USC at 166+…

Not to be too persnickety, so while 170 is an excellent score, the average LSAT at Stanford is 171, so I would not go far as to say, it seals the deal. Rather, it will just make you very competitive. At Boalt, a 170 would place you in the upper 20 percentile.

I never said a 170 would seal the deal at Stanford…

UCI comes with the same target scores as UCD…

Thank you!
