URM Chances for Top School

Thanks? ^_^

yes thanks that was meant as a compliment lol

::bump:: :O

If you spend a bit more time focusing on one passion and making it good then I think you would have a real good shot at the ivies and elites. Still not good enough for MIT/Harvard however, to be frank.

UofM = 90%
Rice = 50%+

tis my opinion only!

Thank you. At my rate, I can use any opinions people have to offer.

Sorry for the double post. BUMP

lol teh narutards are in full effect LOL

yeah do the precalc/physics thing and get started on that research boy! You want to major in neuroscience, then start some research (on some topic you like of course) at NYMC!

Sounds like a plan

look at my thread. all i have to say is i am glad i'm not competing against you. you're gonna get in top schools, and i think you know it too

Take into my consideration that I haven't taken an AP course, and will not until my senior year. Hopefully the colleges will be satisfied with that =/

I had only taken one AP course prior to my senior year... AP English. I turned out OK i think, so i know for a fact that your profile looks better than me. You should excel.

But two questions... what type of school do you attend? ...and i forgot my other one i will post when i remember lol

seriously, i think youve gt a good chance, at carnegie , tufts and johns hopkins, youre ethnicity may help

Public school. Hundreds of kids don't even try nor care about school. However, a select 10-20 in each grade do. Unfortunately, even though I care about school, I backtracked myself and began to play World of Warcraft, which btw ruined my life.

Anyway, I have a 25-30 percentile rank in my grade, most likely. That will REALLY hurt me... like significantly... right?

Come on, please? Any other chance responses for me:

Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Brown
John Hopkins
Harvard
Georgetown University
Tufts
Carnegie Mellon
University of Michigan
Rice

mikyas used to hate me as well (he was going through a "liberal" phase for 2 years) but recently he came to my senses and is gonna start some neuroscience research soon..

as for the physics, I will put in a VERY good word for you and even give a vote of confidence (even THAT will be tough to sway 'im), ite mikyas?

Yes, thank you! I won't let you and/or Mr. Demicco down! ::Begins attacking Barron's Physics Regents Study Guide::

LOL you are definitely teh narutard

Kyuubi Naruto > Sasuke, any day.

Lol, alot of us black ppl are getting into naruto lately, in the past week my boy from nigeria started watching it, I've been watching it, now you watch it. We're invading naruto o_o.

Don't think you are automatically out. one, you have the end of this marking period, if you are in honors/ap classes and you can get as last marking period your WGPA will go up to something like a 3.95 almost 4.0, and by your first semester of senior year load up on honors courses get your WGPA to like 4.1isha nd your UW to like 3.8 and you will be golden. You've got a serious application, even better than my self taught japanese while working since I was 14, trust me man, you have a shot at all of those schools, but MIT/Harvard are reaches for everyone who doesn't have high connections or bribe their way in.

true, I know I may be speaking too much for my LTG brotha mikyas (inside joke don't ask LOL), but I think he's done quite a bit in terms of ECs and is going to do even more math/science-oriented stuff :o

That's why I'm working hard and hoping everyday that I will get accepted to a top school. Hell, I would even be happy with Carnegie Mellon. I just don't want to go to SUNY or something like that. I want to go to a great undergrad college, that way I will pave the path for entering a good grad medical school.
