How much of a particular minority do you have to be in order to be able to put it down on your application? Say someone who was 1/8th Mexican put "Hispanic" on her application, would they get in trouble? Especially if both her father's and her mother's maiden last names are not Spanish? If anyone has info on this, please cite your source so I know it's not just some random rumor.

you should be at least 1/4 of a race to put it down and even then you should put down all applicable races.

Um... and this is from where?

Just put whatever you consider yourself. The question's not that complicated.

Wow. The info on this board is really just a bunch of rumors.

the only minority that requires any documentation is native american, however it's pretty cheap if you decide to become 'black/hispanic/pacific islander' because your great great great aunt susan was. You should identify at least somewhat with the race you put down because with every race comes a story and if you lie that will come through in just about every part of your application
