bump?10char

being hispanic is always a plus .. arabic would most likely be a plus, too, and also you don't want to seem like your leaving something out so i would put both.

yea but i was like...woudnt arab(considered white by us census which is stupd)...negate my urm status or somethning...idn i maybe thinking stupid thoughts here

lol... I am arabic guess.. better to be Mexican/hispanic IMO...

Would colleges be all like "We don't need that Muslim terrorist, especially the way things are around now, lets look at our other thousands of applicants?"

Btw, I'm an Iranian Muslim.

you are def URM lol.
isn't there always another box on the app with "other" on it ?
Can't you fill in both, that would make you even more "attractive" for that school imo.

well thats what i thought but idn...anyone out there that have experience/knows about th9is?

Yale seems to be quite fond of Muslim terrorists.

lol

BUMp.. i want to know

prankity, if you'd taken the time to read that man's story you might reconsider his life as a black/white, with-us-or-against-us kind of thing.

If I were you, I would put down both. Bi-racial students are often even more highly desired than "pure" URMs.

not to challenge your credibility but do you have sources that say so hypocrite?

I'm sorry, but I don't have any really credible sources. I am just basing this belief on observations I (and others) have made. There are not enough biracial candidates to really support this claim, but based on past admissions trends for many colleges, especially in the south, a disproportionate number of biracial students are accepted. But perhaps this is just because they all coincidentally happen to be extremely smart. :)

Note that, however, when I say biracial I don't mean 1/8 Native American and 7/8 white (1/2 white or more probably does not get any benefit from being biracial). But 1/2 Hispanic and 1/2 Arabic would probably work. Of course, 1/2 white and 1/2 Asian would not really help :)

Put down biracial. Which box to check, though, I do not know.

do you really think biracial is a better option...i mean if i was 1/2 half black half hispanic then i would without a doubt but idn what to do

could you somehow twist 'what its like to be iranian-american' into an essay?

It would be dishonest to just check Hispanic. Be honest, or don't check anything at all.

Befs, I don't know where your other thread was about the difference between mexican hispanics and regular latin hispanics. So, I'll tell you here, I was looking at avg. SAT scores, and the regular latin hispanics average score was higher than the Mexican/PR average scores. I think that is why they ask.

Does anyone know if being like a black Jew would make someone more of a URM, or a Hispanic Jew?
