Urm

Hey, is being Chinese going to give me any advantage in admissions? Would it hurt me? BTW, how many people here are Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Middle Eastern...)? Just interested.

being asian is not considered urm status, you are what is referred to as an orm (overrepresented minority) - you're in the toughest minority pool in that asians have the highest scores and grades on average relative to all other ethnic backgrounds

grr Vietnamese obviously isn't cool enough to just be Asian. I didn't learn until this year that we are technically Southeast Asian. I should complain about this to Harvard. grr.

:) jk - btw maguo, I tried replying to your message but it says your mailbox is full buddy

i guess, that being a orm would be better then being a WASP, but since you cant change what your heratige is, i would'nt worry about it.

Actually, shark, being a WASP would be statistically better than being Asian, since whites are a bit more varied not to mention whites are the majority at Harvard.

Does it help if I'm an Asian who's done "non-Asian" stuff? Like I've played football and basketball for two years.

Oh, and my mailbox isn't full anymore. finally figured out how to clean it.

how do you set this to not send all your posts to your email, its driving me insane to get 10 emails from this site and having to constanly delete them.
