<p>although i'm not sure if carnegie mellon really hooks you up, they told me that the acceptance rate for urm is usually around 50 percent compared to its overall of 30 something percent.</p>

<p>Many schools do not put freshman grades into their GPA calculation, which will give you a higher GPA. And the AP/IB will give that GPA a boost.</p>
<p>Generally speaking, selective liberal arts schools are the most interested in diversifying their student bodies.</p>
