Anyone else receive any? I got an email telling me I got the Dean's Scholarship and the IB Scholarship.

Funny though, I was never in the IB program. I emailed the University..

Both were 10k/yr! I was so surprised when I read the email! I am seriously considering Rochester. The school is appealing to me, and at least there I know I'd be more than just a number or a statistic (as I will be if I attend the huge University of Florida).

Anyway, I am excited!! Good luck to everyone else!!

I also received two separate scholarships: the Bausch and Lomb as well as the IB Scholarship. I also am not in the IB program, I am taking AP courses. I was eligible for a FIRST Robotics one, but didn’t get emailed about that; maybe they switched the two.

I posted the following to a separate thread so I’ll post it here as well:

Well… on the bright side, congratulations to those of you who recieved scholarships.

Unfortunately, many students have recieved an e-mail suggesting that they are recipients of the IB Scholarship in addition to another scholarship (it appears most often to be the Wilder Trustee Scholarship). We are working to correct our mistake.

As the website suggests, we only award each student one merit scholarship, and if you or your son/daughter has not completed the IB Diploma, he/she is not eligble for the IB Scholarship. Hang in there as we try to determine what caused the error. Thanks!

I just received a general email from U of R apologizing for a programming error that caused the mistake, and saying that it will send a letter confirming the correct scholarship information. Good to know that they figured it out/sent out clarification so quickly.

S received an email this morning saying he had been awarded an IB scholarship in the amount of $X. He then received the above-mentioned email that there had been a mistake and he would get a letter.

OK, but was he actually awarded a scholarship in the amount of $X? In other words, do we celebrate tonight or not?

That is odd; is your son recieving an IB diploma? What MConklin said made it seem like the erroneous emails were sent to those who already received another scholarship. It may be the case that they sent the apology email to everyone who got the email about the IB scholarship (even though some people may have actually gotten the IB scholarship). In summary: I dont know what you should think, but hopefully they’ll get the letters out soon so you’ll find out.

I am curious why Rochester doesn’t inform admitted students who they know are NMSF that if they become NMF and choose Rochester as their college pick they are automatically given a 15,000 Wilder Trustee scholarship. That is a lot of merit aid and could make a difference in where a student may decide to attend. Many other schools promote the merit aid package that students who are NMF would receive, but Rochester seems to hide that information. If it weren’t for this site I would never have known. Would MConklin be able to address this question? Also if a student has a 0 EFC (with FAFSA and CSS ) does Rochester meet 100% need for COA without loans, or put a cap on the loans? I guess I’ll find out soon, but anxiously wondering.

nameofthegame - You ask a very good question, one that I don’t have a particularly good answer for right now. I will address it with our scholarship committee to see if I can provide clarification, for my own sake as well. I agree that this information should be readily accessible.

With regard to your other question, my recommendation is to contact the financial aid office. They will be able to provide you with much more specific information, though I will say many students who have applied for need-based aid recieve aid in the form of student loans.

No, not all merit scholarship recipients have been notified. Scholarship notification will continue to go out in waves that correspond with decision letters.

S got his letter today. The previously stated IB scholarship in the erroneous email turned out to be his NROTC scholarship, which we already knew about.
