Regardless of major

I’d pick Brandeis.

U Rochester is more prestigious, I think, but Brandeis is also very good. I would pick U Rochester.

Urochester

UofR is significantly more prestigious, and I would attend it over Brandeis.

Do take the time to look over some objective data rather than just taking my anonymous word for it.

The word “significantly” makes that sentence incorrect, it’s only a smidgen more prestigious, to the point where it doesn’t even matter. Brandeis is more selective, anyway.

Sorry, but I don’t agree. UofR has a large number of prestigious departments with significant research presences (you can look at any graduate ranking you like if you don’t believe me). Brandeis is a fine institution that I think deserves more attention, but it cannot claim the same. The selectivity difference actually is minor.

Brandeis has more name recognition, IMO. As someone from the Northeast, I have found many more people have heard of Brandeis then Rochester, though I’m not sure why. In terms of resources, URochester has the edge and it has more research activity than Brandeis.

^^^ I agree with schritzo. Brandeis has better name recognition.

I guess they are both equally prestigious considering the vote is four against four.

Another vote for URoch =]

Rochester-5
Brandeis-4

Rochester - 5
Brandeis - 5

Seriously, OP, the difference isn’t big.
