Questions...

1.) Are UROP projects for 1 semester or a full year?
2.) If I'm doing UROP, should I take a max of 4 classes? Can I take 5 classes + UROP if one of my classes is Math 289 (Problems Seminar)?

1) you choose. They are supposed to go for a year, but you can drop after the first semester if you'd like...or that's how it went in my peer group...you wouldn't really want to do research for only 2 months anyways would you considering you finally get your project in Oct

2) 4 classes is what 16 credits? then you take 2 credits of UROP? is that what you're thinking. To me that's quite a bit of a load to deal with but it depends on your classes. 5 classes + urop to me is just plain NO! that's just way too much. Remember you want to commit yourself to your project so you learn and enjoy it and it doesn't become stressful

ok...resist the urge to try and graduate in 3 semesters lol....I wouldn't do anything beyond 14-16 range. My 1st semester, I had 15 credits plus a 1 credit minicourse that didn't have any hw or papers. It was PLENTY.

I think the semester credit limit is 18 credits, so no one is going to stop you if you want to max out. If you take UROP for money instead of credit, you should be able to take more classes.

UROP is 2-4 credits, so five classes in addition to UROP, would be difficult. 295 is 4 credits, and 289 is 1 credit, so you'd have (18-2 to 4-4-1) 7-11 credits for three classes. So yeah, actually it could work. Three 4 credit classes, a single 3 credit, a solitary 1 credit, and 2 credits for UROP.

If you actually want to do that is a different story :P
