My daughter got her package as well and it specifically lists an unsubsidized Stafford loan (along with a merit scholarship). You can look up the details of your loan on that site (interest rate, when you have to repay, etc.)

The aid was actually more than I would expect based on our EFC, but of course a lot of people (including me!) would argue that the FAFSA’s EFC is not realistic for many people.

Hello
I received the acceptance letter from Ursinus about a month ago with a scholarship worth 20K. I have been researching about this school and I have read reviews and comments ranging from"I regret going to Ursinus" to “don’t listen to those haters, Ursinus is a phenomenal school”. I understand that Ursinus is a great school, despite these ugly comments, and as of right now, it is one of the colleges I am considering to go to. But if there’s anyone who is currently attending Ursinus or has graduated from Ursinus, I would love to hear some feedback and overall personal experience about the school.
Oh and stats
Writing:640
Math:750
Reading:590
SAT Korean:800
SAT Math II: 660
GPA: 3.84(unweighted)
Act I thought I did kinda bad…27?..I was actually surprised when I got accepted because of my low stats. But anyways, I have applied and got accepted to several other schools…such as SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Binghamton, Wesleyan College, SUNY New Paltz, Rosemont College, Smith College, Centre College, and a few more…I know I applied to a lot of schools but I wanted options especially for financial aid because my family really can’t pay for full tuition for any school right now…URSINUS!!!if anyone knows anything solid about this school please help!(: I would greatly appreciate it!!(and other comments or questions)

i am from China too!! Also it is hard for me to choose LAC or university. I have addmited by ursinus college and miami university-oxfrod. I want to know more about this college, so i can decide whether go or not.

My D is a hs jr and Ursinus just came on our radar today. Would love to know how everyone’s visits were, what you thought of the campus etc? Thanks

Ursinus has a lovely campus. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The campus is small enough to get anywhere by walking in less than ten minutes- most things are only a minute or two away from each other. There is a mix of old, new and renovated buildings. I was speaking with someone from admin. who told me that there is alot of talk on what to renovate/build/improve/change when the new president arrives in Sept. My daughter feels the student vibe is down-to-earth, not pretentious as at some other LACs. The academics are serious here and they have a rep for good placement in grad schools, professional schools and jobs after graduation. The two things I have heard students complain about is that they get bored of the food and that the food is “ok” and that there isn’t anything to do off-campus in Collegeville. The school provides free bus service sometimes on a weekend to Phila., NY or DC. Otherwise, you can get into Phil by public transportation but it takes awhile and there is a change from bus to train in Norristown. Cars are permitted on campus in soph. year- about 40 min. to center city. Everyone seems to love Ursinus for the personalized attention they get from professors, ability to do meaningful research early-on, friendliness of the student population. It is my daughter’s first choice. Absolutely worth looking into if you want a small, personal liberal arts college.

I got offer from university of minnesota twin cities and I am confused too. I asked the admission if have chinese students in Ursinus College, they said they didn’t kow!!! this is my QQ:516195051,maybe you can contact me if you wish.

I’ll point out some differences, it will be up to your S to figure out which category (pro/con) to put them.

Size: Ursinus is by far the smallest. Smaller class sizes. The largest class my D (current junior at Ursinus) had was freshman year – 35 students. Most of her classes now have 10-20 students, a couple in her major have less than 10.

Location: Ursinus is far suburbs, Villanova is suburban but much closer to Philadelphia and in a busier area, Drexel is urban.

Spectator sports / school spirit: Villanova is the winner here. While Drexel has basketball, it’s sort of an after-thought compared to the Big 5 teams in Philly. At Ursinus you can watch your friends play Div III sports – or have a better chance of being on a varsity team yourself.

The bigger schools will offer more options, Ursinus will probably be more flexible and responsive to students. For example, one of D’s professors changed the meeting time for the class to make it possible for D to take the class.
