I’m a high school student who wants to apply for PPE (Philosophy, Politics, Economics) major in US universities.
I’m not too sure which universities offer PPE major. I was only able to look into Wikipedia which seems not reliable. Can someone please list all the universities that offer PPE major in the US?
You may want to research schools with an available public policy concentration, which relies on the fields of political science, economics and philosophy for its foundation. The site linked below includes these colleges:
PPE programs are more variable than you might think- be sure to read the details on any program you are thinking about, particularly the requirements and to how integrated (or not) the strands are with each other. IME most students do not study P, P, and E equally, so make sure that you like the shape of each specific program. Also, PPE is not a difficult major to build at most colleges. PPE is mostly famous as a major b/c of the political success of a lot of Oxford PPEists, and doesn’t carry the same weight elsewhere.
Schools may call it different names. For example, Pitt has a Politics and Philosophy major that includes course requirements in economics. Not sure if it’s completely the same, but it’s in the same vein.
Brown doesn’t have an official PPE program, but it’s a rather common independent concentration. IAPA (international and public affairs), poli sci, and econ also are often paired in various configurations of double concentration.
At the Claremont Colleges, you can access the PPE major from Pomona, Claremont McKenna, and Scripps. At CMC, it’s an honors tutorial program with competitive admissions once there: https://www.cmcppe.org/
Others to look at, many of which are already mentioned above:
