I've heard in subjects like biology and chemistry, AP is harder than SAT II. Is it also the case for US history?

Yep. Getting a 3 isn’t hard at all, though. 5 is I felt.

Anecdotal evidence-

I clowned around in AP US History for a year (with a horrible teacher) and got a 2 on the exam. Definitely could’ve gotten higher if I was not an idiot.

I went to Barnes and Noble for two hours after school daily for a month and memorized the Sparknotes US History book and got a 750 or so on the SAT.

@aluminum, so what you’re saying is APUSH is a lot harder than SATII USHistory. Is it also other people’s observation? I also want to know. Please. thanks. Next year I’ll take APUSH. so if I work hard on it and do well in AP, I hope I’ll be able to get a good score (>700) in SAT II US history. Is it a reasonable expectation?

I took APUSH last year and the sat ii. I had the ap first and then the sat ii (unlike this year). but i think the sat ii is a great predictor of the ap score for apush, at least. I got a 710 without knowing what i was doing and ended up with a 5. So if you can get at least a 700, i think you’re set for a 5. good luck!!!

It really depends. Subject test is 100% MC. But in terms of breadth, they both have a lot of information with the AP exam probably a bit more. (Of course, you need to know a lot to score well on the SAT exam as well). However, because of the DBQ, you can score well with a mediocre score on the MC for the AP exam.

I didn’t know SAT II only has MCs. (shows the ignorance…) Thanks all for the info.
