Hi! I did not do very well on my US History AP or SAT II. So I was wondering whether I should retake them... I'm planning on taking the World/European History AP class next year. Are European and U.S. histories similar, like would it be possible/good for me to study for both at the same time?
Do you guys think it makes sense for me to take AP again, especially when the fee is like $80 and I passed the first time?
Also, would colleges look at your lower scores and judge you based on them?

Sorry.. I have so many questions.. =)
Please let me know, thanks in advance!

I wouldn't take the U.S. History and European History tests in the same year. They are given on the same day, which would be absolutely terrible. Don't worry about retaking it. You can take the course in college if you need to. If you absolutely must retake something, retake the SAT II. It's cheaper and doesn't force you to write three essays.

I think taking 2 AP history tests in one day would be insane...not only would you want to kill yourself, your performance on both tests would most likely suffer, because it would require very intensive studying to get a 4 or better on both tests.

I took AP Euro this year, and with much effort received a 4. It is 98% about European history, only some of the names overlap in both classes. I WOULD NOT take the AP US history test again because
1. for one thing, like the others have said, it would be extremely hard for you to focus the same amount of attention and effort on two history tests as you would one. I took 2 AP Euro and AP Stats this year, and about 70% of my effort was put into Euro. Since you did not do well the first time in US, you would probably need to spend more time on it if you try to take it again. It would be a loss both ways because not only are you getting less time on each test overall, but you might not only jeopardize your US grade, but also you're Euro grade.
2. Since you are not taking the US class this year, it would be harder for you to remember everything you learned in US, so my guess is, you probably would not do as well if you do not take the test right after you complete the course.

My advice would be, focus all you're energy on your Euro AP, and try to get an awesome grade. Forget about your US grade. Otherwise, you might end up with two so - so grades, which are not as good as an okay one and a great one.

I would retake the US, in fact I am. However, I'm not taking AP Euro. It will take a lot of time and effort. I'm taking
Marching Band
Band
AP Gov/Econ
AP Spanish 5
AP English (I think i will switch to DE)
DE Human A&P
need to put Alg 2 on there as well.
