US History SparkNotes

How accurate are the free SparkNotes tests online for US History?

Can anyone offer some input?

Sorry, can’t help you - both kids used AMSCO book and College Board on-line access provided free by their HS. I would imagine the practice tests on college board would be your best best - from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Thanks MereMom. I’m using AMSCO and collegeboard already, but I just wanted some additional practice with Sparknotes. However, I’m not sure if the scores you get on the Sparknotes practice tests reflect your actual performance. Has anyone else tried this? Was it harder or easier compared to the real test?

I used Crash Course and Sparknotes for USH.
Then, CB before the actual exam.

Sparknotes was really good. (800 on USH)

20more, did you take the AP US History exam before?

I used sparknotes as well as preparing for the history AP (w/ my APUSH class, 5 steps to a 5, and REA crash course which I really recommend, a great quick review) and I got an 800. The one bad thing about SN is it says it has 8 tests but some of the questions are repeated. That said, the questions I took on the practice test showed up on the actual one a few times. SN is a good tool, just don’t let it be your only tool.

They prepared me really well! I started taking them one month before AP’s (took the SAT in Jun) and took 1 or 2 every week. After week 5 or so, some questions do seem to repeat, and it stops giving you a score (but you can check how many you got wrong and compare it to the chart elsewhere on the site).

My pattern went something like this: 680-730-760-780-750-760-780-800-800

Got an 800 on the real thing! (But barely, because I must’ve have gotten 8-12 wrong based on what people were posting on here at the time).

I disagree with the don’t let it be your only tool. I had a pretty decent teacher and I only used sparknotes. Take advantage of the resources you have before giving up the big bucks.

SparkNotes was pretty good. I was getting low 700’s on SparkNotes and got a 770 on the real test. I know exactly which ones I missed, and the answers were definitely covered on SparkNotes, I just didn’t remember it all because I was doing some serious cramming. I didn’t use any other materials.
