US History studying method

I am planning on taking the us history sat II on june 6. Those of you who got good scores am wondering how did you guys study. Did you guys take notes as you read because it seems to me that I might forget some of the information along the way.

I took the AP test for US history on Friday and will be taking the subject test June 6. I thought the AP test went very well, I felt very prepared while I was taking it. The ways I prepared for the test were: taking notes on every textbook reading throughout the year, skimming amsco to refresh my memory, taking practice tests (although I don’t think college board releases subject tests like they do AP exams), writing essays (you won’t need to do this for the SAT subject test), and also obvious things like taking notes in class, doing homework etc. Are you taking honors US History or AP?
I am guessing that you probably all of those things, so the next step I think would be to get a prep book to review the material and test taking strategies. Good luck!

I am currently in Ap US. My teacher pretty much required us to buy the amsco book at the beginning of the year, and we read that throughout the year in addition to our text book, but I do not feel like I recall every information I read, even though I also studied for the Ap exam. I am wondering if I should reread the amsco book and take notes this time, or get a barrons book and read through that taking notes.

Also forgot to ask, do you take notes on just major themes and trends, or do you take notes on the really specific?

I mostly took notes focusing on major themes and trends. If an event exemplified a theme, I just noted that next to the theme (for example Plessy v. Ferguson for validation of Jim Crow laws). If you know the themes, you will be able to answer specific multiple choice questions because you will know which answers do not fit. Good luck!

I just took the APUSH test last week. I’m planning to read AMSCO again.

I took several practice tests and that was it. I feel like my APUSH test prepared me pretty well, but I guess we’ll find out in a week or so.

Reading AMSCO and taking practice tests is the way to go.

I read Kaplan very good review. It has the key ideas and points in the beginning, practice quizzes and exams. The day before i tried doing the practice tests again.
