US history subject test and Ap test

I'm going to take the US History subject test and I have the AP amsco review book. Will rereading this and preparing with my ap stuff work for the subject test as well?

Read AMSCO or REA for the SAT II?

i am using Kaplan for SAT II, i heard it is very good

yeah i am reading kaplan also..heard the same thing

yeah... I used kaplan and got a 780 without studying anything else..I didn't even take an honors course (CP). The book seems primitive...but it seems like the practice questions and the definitions come right from it. USE KAPLAN!!

What about the REA US History Subject test? I'm studying it right now and it seems like the practice tests are insanely hard. I also chose REA because the 6 practice tests are from actual collegeboard US subject tests in the past.

I also heard Kaplan was good, and I think the review for Kaplan is probably better than the REA review because REA goes way way too indepth. By the way, the REA US History review is the same as the REA AP US History review...I basically got the REA subject book for the practice tests.

I also noticed that Princeton Review has good practice tests that look eerily identical to the real test. But the PR US History review is horrible and it is way too general and only suits you if you know your history very well and are only looking for a general review.

Once I'm done with the 6 practice tests from REA (they're hard, unless it's just me), I'm gonna have to review some Kaplan because I too heard the review was great.

Can anyone tell me how good the Kaplan US Subject tests are? Are they accurate and similar to the real test?

Thanks.

6 practice tests are from actual collegeboard US subject tests in the past.

So, from the SAT II?

I quote: "Based on official exam questions relased by the College Board"

And yes its from the SAT II

They seem to be a lot harder than a normal test..so they must be scattered questions or something

Aren't they from released AP exams. What makes you so sure they are released "Subject tests"

Because this is the REA US History Subject Test book not the AP test one.

It says it's from released subject tests by collegeboard unless they're lying.

where did you get your books

I got my REA US History Subject book from a bookstore called "Borders". But I checked and it's available through amazon.com.

I think you may be right that the questions are from AP tests, but nonetheless the REA US History Subject book has some tough tough tests that really made me aware of how much I don't know. Plus the explanations in the back for every single question are superb and reading those alone (after taking the test) is excellent review.

I'm still gonna read the Kaplan Subject review and take some of those tests because the REA review is a little bit too long and seems way too indepth for me.

are the questions similar to AP questions?

somewhat similar. in my opinion, there were a LOT more graphs/cartoons that you had to get the message out of... they also tested a few trivial facts that aren't necessary for AP

should I use REA or AMSCO (I have both)

I am wondering the same thing. My son just took US History AP, Bio AP, and euro hist. ap; and I am wondering if he can just review his barrons for those ap books for the SAT subject II's next week. We have the real sat II's but can buy more barrons or kaplan if that is better. thanks

Personally I'm gonna buy Kaplan's US History test prep book (after I finish my REA practice tests), because of all the praise I've heard from it.

For bio, I heard barron's was the best because if you memorize that book you'll definitely score a 750+.

I'm not too sure about Euro history, but I heard the REA book for that book was good.
