US international student

Hello,
My name si Fatih and I’m from Turkey but living in France. I’m 18 years old. Currently working since I’m having trouble. After loosing my mother 3 years ago, i started to have very bad grades because i had multiple existential crises in mylife. I ENDED up every night crying during 2 years, it wasn’t that easy. Even writing this I’m crying since its the first time that I’m talking about this. I’ve always wanted to become a doctor, but in high school I chooses a non scientific branche and got my high school degree. I thought that with taking another path i will loose my medicine passion. But no, its like a part of me. I decided to integrate an US medical university, even if i had bad grades i wanted to know if there is still hope, still ways for me to enter US medical universities. I’m ready to work for the next 1-2 year for exams, to enter US medical school…! Even if i had bad high school grades, I’m confident, i have to become a doctor and in France, I’m not feeling comfortable with the school system.

KIND REGARDS

In the US, you only do medical school as a postgraduate option after a 4-year bachelors degree. Apart from excellent college grades in pre-med subjects, you need to write a special exam for entry. Medical school is very difficult to get into, even more so for internationals as the primary function of med school is to train US doctors, and very expensive. (As in, a couple of hundred thousand dollars.) unfortunately I do not think it is a realistic option for you under the circumstances.

The odds of international student being accepted to a US medical school are extremely poor.

In 2019 only 129 internationals in total matriculated into all US medical schools combined.

Also FA for international applicants is all but non-existent. If accepted, you must demonstrate you are able to pay for 100% of the cost of your medical education by either presenting a letter of guarantee from your home country government OR by place up to 4 years of the COA in a US banks escrow account ( or about $350,000-$500,000)

Thanks for your comments! So there are no possibilties for me to avoid french system for medical school? 0 possibilities ?

@Fatihmermer I pmed you in french :slight_smile:
