US Medical student Transfering to a UK med school

Hello,
I am a US medical student wanting to join my husband who is a UK medical resident.
Does anyone know how one can transfer to a UK medical school from the US?
Is it possible?
I need any help I can get.
Thanks

Have you looked at specific university's websites? It's a completely different system here in the UK than in the US so the possibility I am unsure of.

Hi, thanks for the response.
Well, I know the programs are not the same but I also heard that UK has begun a 4-year post bachelor degree program and that is the program I am in right now.
I have a bachelor's degree and more than 3 years of medical school with only 5 months of my clinicals left.
I am actually searching to obtain more info myself but not any particular universities yet..
Thanks.

If you only have 5 months of clicnicals left why not just stick it out? I really do not think you will be able to full credit/transfers for the work you have done already.

Well, the long term plan for me is to stay in the UK and I heard that If am able to transfer out I don't have to take USMLE and the PLAB both! At this pont I have to take USMLE step 2 and PLAB 1 and 2...
was trying to see if there is a way out to take less exams...!

Finish your education in the US if you only have 5 months left. You would probably have to do the whole 4 year graduate programme in the UK and pay overseas fees of about £20,000 per year. If you do this, you will still have to take exams! Sorry. There many thousands of foreign doctors in the UK. The NHS purposefully poaches them so it can't be all that difficult (probably more complex from a non-EU and non-Commonwealth country though). I recommend you contact the British Medical Association to ask what additional training (if any) you would need to do to practice in the UK with US qualifications.
