I was filling up the FAFSA the other day, but, it requires the name of my high school in America, which, as I am currently in 12th grade in another country, am unable to provide. I can't fill up the form unless I give this information. Can someone explain this to me please? Does that mean I can't apply for federal aid without having studied from a US high school??

You certainly can file the FAFSA! Take another look at it and see if you can figure out other options such as leaving out the high school’s name entirely.

I can’t get into FAFSA this morning to check myself because it refuses to recognize my browser even though I have the most recent version. Check your PM in-box for a current list of other citizens abroad who post here at CC. One of them should be able to tell you what you need to do.

Take a deep breath! You are going to be just fine.

Just in case someone else has this problem: Our daughter’s school had letters with accents and umlauts. We couldn’t enter her high school information until we replaced those letters with English letters.
