Chicago jumped six spots (kinda) from tied for 15th to tied for 9th in the latest US news rankings! Check the college search forum for more info on the rankings.

Chicago was due for placement within the top 10!

Shanghai Jiao Tong also ranked the U of C at #8 within the world this year.

Congratulations from Cal to UChicago!

You guys deserve the recognition... :)

Do you mean Chicago ranks top ten in COLLEGE US NEWS WORLD REPORT? From 15th in 2006 to top ten in 2007? If so, how did you know it.

Though positive news for Chicago is good, the rankings are nonsense even if Chicago were ranked #1.

Get the fk out of here I dad

I really wish Chicago would do like Reed and stop submitting information to this thing.

That could only hurt its already weak national popularity.

College selection should not be a popularity contest.

I’m sure that’s true….. Many things shouldn’t be as they are, but, as I’m sure you know, we don’t live in an ideal world…. All I’m saying is that if Chicago decides to be pretentious and boycott US News, there is nothing it has to gain from doing so.

How is that pretentious?

Well, when peer schools are submitting their data for compilation, and Chicago decides that it is, for one reason or another, above doing so, it seem pretty pretentious to me.

I assume this is from a fake "leaked" ranking. I saw one the other day where we were down to 16.

No it's not, it's from the magazine. Check the college search forum.

No one said Chicago would opt out because it was above the rankings. It could simply decide to be apart from the rankings, not necessarily above or below.

I know they said it's from the magazine. They say that for the other fake one where we dropped to 16. I'm saying it's ~99% certain that this is fake. I will more than happily eat my hat if I'm wrong.

The guy posted a pictures of the magazine. I don't think anyone would waste the time to fabricate it all. Get that hat ready.

Er, you didn't answer my question. That's ok, though, I'm not going to press the issue. I was just wondering.

haha, I just think its funny that US News still ranks Reed even though they don't cooperate.

-How is your question not answered?
