Which schools do you think will jump the highest (and fall the lowest) in next year's rankings?

clemson will rise a little, maybe 5 or 6 spots

Penn will fall a couple of spots because its average SAT score decreased by 10-20 points (lame reason but reason enough).

Cornell will rise a few because its average SAT score increased by 10-20. Chicago will drop in its tie with Dartmouth as Dartmouth had higher SAT scores.

Alumni giving, faculty:student and resources probably haven't changed significantly, but if they have, they might undo all of my predictions.

I think Notre Dame and Cal Tech will drop. ND especially doesn't seem to be as popular anymore.

Tufts will rise, and probably Columbia too. Boston College will also rise, and as much as I hate to admit it, NYU.

I hope that Reed will shoot up. Even though they don't take part in the survey, they are still a top 20 LAC. In addition, based on what my friends have told me about the school, Yeshiv University might fall a bit. Does anyone know when the new rankings are out?

I think we should not 'think' until it actually comes out......

When does it come out?

Yale
........
........
........
(the rest of them)

;)

I think we should stop caring about these inane rankings.

Harvard drops off the list since everyone thinks they cant get in and just BS's thier "lets do this for fun to see if i can get in" application...resulting in nobody getting in.

In other news, Al Gore convinces everyone that exhaling causes global warming, heeding his advice, everyone promptly holds thier breath and dies.

I'm just bitter cuz somebody said I dont stand out as an applicant.
:)

lol was it firefox?

lol

firefox:
*ok... let's see. for top schools, you have ok numbers and a bad rank (5% to 10% rank in a class of 400? so you are ~30/400?). and like you said, bad ECs.

i would not bother applying to HYPS. instead, i would apply ED to a lower ivy and hope for the best. even then, i still would not have high expectations.

you are like the epitome of bright well rounded kid who will received lots of rejection letters from top schools. you just don't stand out*

yup :)

When do the rankings come out???

I think Yale will drop, their apps went way down I believe.

Princeton will lose the top spot, because Eating Clubs are so freaking pretentious, and they spawned the UM 'winged' helmet. (OK, this might be a little less likely)

Chicago might go up a bit with big alumni donations this year, much larger than past years. Not sure how much that factors into the formula. Of course, that's only one factor considered. There are obviously many other things that have fluctuated with respect to other colleges, both positively and negatively.

crosses fingers and hopes for Chicago to move up my extended family is comprised of tons of prestige whores... I love Chicago, but my family would hate for me to go there because fewer people have heard of it. I think they'd love to say "Oh, my (relative) is at the University of Chicago. You haven't heard of it? Well, it's ranked #1/2/3/4/5 in the nation!"

=P #9 is good too. Not that these rankings really matter.

Predictions:
1/2/3: harvard, yale, and princeton, in any order.
4/5: mit, stanford
and the rest.

:) I'm not too adventurous.

I would like to see Tufts go up, but honestly, whatever happens, happens.

do you think emory will stay the same?

except for the fact that nd's acceptance rate has dropped from 30% to 23% in the last two years.

University of Miami will definitely rise.
