What is "WSU"?

Topofthegame, you need to reread those threads. And then you need to read the threads of both NU and Chicago(take note of who posts where).

WashU has been experiencing soe good luck these days. didnt they make Ivy League?

"lots predict U-Florida, UMiami and USC will rise though"

I have the same feeling :D:D

I think USC might jump to 25 or 24....

"didnt they make Ivy League?"

hehe

kk19131,
its washington state u. not exactly well known to begin with, except for our pac10 football team.

"whats wsu?"
Exactly. Its not even that famous yet and people already predict the school will slip. Well, with the way they organize their depts. noone will ever wonder.

Lots of people here, including profs, consider Arizona State a rising star. The only thing that will probably hold them down is the fact that theyre not so selective, they said.

I think Rutgers will rise... alot of positive things happened for that school this year including record apps.

Arizona State should prolly get out of the third tier.
also University of Central Florida should definately rise. The way I see it, im actually expecting UCF to surpass FSU because I see another slip in FSU's ranking.

How is that acarta? What exactly is slipping at FSU?

For example, in 2005 UCF went from US News Tier 3 to Tier 4, while FSU climbed from 111 to 110 among all national universities. Among publics FSU went 54th nationally to 51st.

Kiplinger rated FSU in 2007 16th best value nationally among publics. UCF came in at 60.

In FTIC stats, FSU still beats UCF, even with the increase in applicants. If FSU cuts freshman enrollment, expect the bottom 15% of FSU's freshman to be cut. That alone will cause a rise per US News rankings. The FSU freshman retention is currently 87%. That will not drop in the future.

Not to mention that FSU and UF were the ONLY universities in Florida to qualify under Florida statute for the 40% tuition increase. Only USF qualified at 30%. UCF did not qualify at all. This creates a tier system in Florida for the flagship universities of UF and FSU. With budgets being cut, I see no way for UCF to even beat USF any time soon, much less FSU.

"Arizona State should prolly get out of the third tier.
also University of Central Florida should definately rise. The way I see it, im actually expecting UCF to surpass FSU because I see another slip in FSU's ranking."

This has to be the most ridiculous statement I've ever read. UCF is a 4th tier university. Falling from the 3rd to the 4th tier is not considered making progress. FSU shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as UCF. What is this so-called slip that FSU is supposedly experiencing? I haven't heard anything about this, but please enlighten me. I've read several post where you claim that UCF will surpass FSU in no time, and I'm just wondering how you came up with that conclusion.

type in "the most prestigious college admissions thread in the world" on google, and you'll find a thread that has the 2008 college rankings. Now, just like you, i'm skeptical, but the guy who put it up also put up the 2008 graduate rankings like 2 months before they were to come out and they proved to be correct! so we'll see.

btw, the rankings are:

Don't pay any attention to the above list. The list was a just a "flame" posted on x o x o h t h .com - the author was just trolling and looking to start an argument. Happens all the time.

Anybody think Stony Brook will rise/fall?

i sure hope you're right biocoastal07 (i really do).afterall, i was hoping for some bigger changes. yet, i cant get over how someone on that thread had info on the 2008 graduate rankings before they were released by usnews.

what a funny thread...predicting US News rankings; still a great exercise for the mind :)

parent2noles, get over yourself! Open your eyes and see that FSU is not all that it was cut out to be as it was in the '80s. They only students they get are the ones that were rejected from UMiami and UF. The reputation the seminoles have created is a negative party image -- parents are not going to want their kids going there. Therefore, no smart kids @ their college? Rankings go down. FSU will drop in 2008. UCF will rise. It's getting more competitive from what I've read.

duke from 8th to 6th

to be honest, I Feel like Duke is going to drop around to 10 this year. I just feel like it has been on the decline ever since the LAX scandal.

"I just feel like it has been on the decline ever since the LAX scandal."

-What do you mean by this? How do you explain the fact that Duke has gotten MORE applications since said scandal?

I dont think things will change much up the top 20. I'm curious about my school's rank though. I heard its slipping down every yr, perhaps soon to be replaced by ASU?
