Alright, you know 'em, you hate 'em. But once again it's time to start speculating about the new rankings. I think they come out in mid-august? What are your thoughts? Any movements in the Top 25? Any insider info?

UCB down to unranked, and Duke up to number 1 (following the spirit of the college search thread)

Joking aside, I see colleges like Columbia and Brown moving up in the standings while other colleges such as Duke, Northwestern, and UChicago moving down (they don't deserve their spots)!

lol, guys, come on, what's the point of speculating?
it's not like the rankings really give any concrete distinction as to whether a college is really better than another
besides, we all know that harvard is always the number one :P

Whatever school the person who weights the criteria attended will be near the top.

Wasn't Princeton number one this year?
I secretly think HYP pays US News a lot of $$$$$ to keep their top spots.

Haha, sure seems like it XD

<total speculation-="" no="" insider="" info=""></total>

1 H, Y

2 P

3 Caltech, MIT

4 UPenn, D, S

5 Brown

6 NW, UChicago

7 Cornell

umm, wouldn't that be more like

1 - H, Y
3 - P
4 - Caltech, MIT
6 - UPenn, Duke, S
9 - Brown
10 - NW, Chi
12 - Cornell

Sorry to be nitpicky, but at first glance it looked like you had Cornell at #7 and I almost vomited on my keyboard.

In my very worthless opinion

I say Yale will be back to #1
I think Duke will move up not down (it is an excellent school-do the research)
I think Emory will move up

Even though the rankings don't determine the academic quality, bright kids seem to be stuck on these types of rankings so in a way they do carry weight. I prefer rankings on things that are important to my kids (class size, retention).

Cornell

Ole Miss

DeVry

Harvard

Penn

Cant wait for the year that Rice, Georgetown, William & Mary, and Tufts get their proper due and move up at least 7-10 spots each. Only then will the ranking have any type of merit.

Berkeley and UCLA don't get crap from these rankings. They should most definitely be higher up.

i say we completely forget about harvard.

princeton or yale.
princeton or yale.
stanford.
mit.
caltech.
columbia.
brown.
uchicago or duke.
u chicago or duke.
dartmouth.
u penn. (the only reason they are higher otherwise is wharton, otherwise the school doesn't even deserve to be this high)
cornell or jhu.
northwestern.
vanderbilt.
berkely.
uva or ucla.

in all honestly. i just think Brown and Columbia should move up a little bit. both impressed me much more than Upenn and dartmouth. does anyone else agree?

In my opinion,
1. H,Y,P,S,MIT,Caltech,UPENN,Duke, UofC, WashU,dartmouth.....

I don't believe in ratings

^ Please don't humiliate the other schools by including WashU.

random ordering:

harvard

Princeton

Stanford

cal tech

MIT

Yale

Berkeley

columbia

U chicago

Cornell

U penn

How about top 25 LACs?

Check
U.S. News Rankings Through the Years

Note that this year's ranking will be for the class of 2011.

MIT will be upppp. UChicago will go up (and even more next year). USNWR will shuffle the usual top 8.

Sorry to disappointed Ivy League lovers, but Brown is really not going to be moving anywhere.

Mm, here's hoping Amherst takes #1 this year, though I doubt it.
Like HYP, Amherst, Williams, and Swarthmore will trade spots around the top 3. It's a sham.
