US News 2009 Rankings Speculation Thread

Subtract 10 for Brown because Alicia Sacramone fell twice, stepped out of bound several more times in both the final and the prelim, costed the US team a gold medal. They should keep her out of the team like they did 4 years ago.

By that logic +10 for UMichigan, because Michael Phelps is one crazy mother.

Don't you mean Add 10. Subtract 10 would make Brown rank #4 ;) Same with UMich

At least the american team was not cheating....

True that.

Sore losers trying to sully the Glorious Peoples' Republic?

i hate china

It's okay--she's hot.

trnr06, you are a bigot. have fun working (trying to get a job) on wall street and hating china at the same time.

kwu, indeed they are.

Depends if he hates the Chinese or their government. I certainly despise their government but in the same token despise people who hate the Chinese.

One of the US gymnasts noticed that one of the Chinese girls lost a baby tooth after one of the competitions..

Bring me a 16 year old who still has baby teeth.

Or even a 14 year old...

^^ My entire family noticed that. The poor girl was toothless. The way they forced a smile before each event was heartbreaking. At least Alicia can go back to the happiest gay bar on earth. These girls go back to prison to train again. trnr06 hates CHINA, not Chinese.

Cervantes, but he said "i hate china"... i can only assume that he hates china, the government AND people included... If i had stated "I hate Cuba" or "I hate France" surely, those comments would have been deemed quite racist, if not extremely inappropriate.

Lord Kev is being sarcastic.

She kinda looks like Jenny from the block.

i am just sick and tired of people bashing china. when china lost in this event 4 years ago, they did nothing but put the blame on themselves and knew they must compete better. what does the coach of the usa women's team do? immediately blame and name call the opponent. nice..

if the chinese girls had lost, would their (too young) age issues be used as the reason for their loss?
if so, one cannot use the age issue as the reason for why they won, since it does not go both ways.
if not, why is it okay to use it now that they have won.

What? And here I thought China-bashing was "hip" and "in!"

Free Tibet! Communism is evil! Go green! Macs!

As Americans, it is our God-given, predestined right to condescend and compete. Our form of government is infallible. It is the will of our people that elects our leaders to public office. Our economy thrives on a free market. God bless America and God bless George W. Bush.

Lady Smith, while I adore your perceptive abilities, I was not being sarcastic.
In my last post, anyway =)

with record low voting turnouts ever- in the 40 percentile?- it is def the WILL of our PEOPLE that elects our leaders to public office... nope the public's voice is heard! and here i thought Bush government gave/made up positions in his office who buddies who helped him out from time to time... =]

I see colleges like Columbia and Brown moving up in the standings while other colleges such as Duke, Northwestern, and UChicago moving down

[/quote]

One of the first posts said the above, and I agree. Although Columbia went above Dartmouth last year, so I think the movement up will be more likely for Brown...

Anyway, I will comeback and rub it in after the 22...

Not to burst your bubble, but the chances of NU, Duke, UChicago falling is much smaller than that of Brown and Columbia rising.

Brown is terribly overrated on CC.

^ Wait, what? How is Brown overrated?

It's one of the best schools in our country! Literally.

And though I would never want to go there myself, I would never assert that it is lesser than people think it is.
