<p>Northwestern's score is closer to Madison than VA Tech. Shouldn't it be ranked 13th instead? ;)</p>

<p>gaaah, UCLA dropped by one, and UCSD rose by 8 (overtaking UCLA)!!!!</p>

<p>The lists above are college with Phds only. The origninal lists are colleges without Phd programs</p>

<p>The reason that PSU gets the nod over CMU is probably because the rankings tend to favor larger schools. Since larger state schools have larger programs and do more research (for funding) their peer assesment tends to be a little higher than smaller, private schools. You also have to realize that you will get way more faculty interaction/advising in a private school.</p>

<p>hi UCBCHEMEGRAD, caltech is ranked number 5 in the aero-astro section of your post. But it does not offer that major at the undergraduate level.</p>
