US PhD Bio/biomedical/lifesciences international interviews & acceptances fall 2011

@HB1986:
Yeah, I’ll be going to the second visit in March. See you then!

got accepted to UMich PIBS! :slight_smile: have been waiting for the results for 4weeks after the skype interview.

Hi guys, someone applying to Biomedical Engineering?

Hi, mclouis

I also received interview from NYU department of Biology. I scheduled the interview on Feb. 11, so now I am still preparing for the interview. How is your interview going on? Have you had it?
Good luck!

Hi fionapeng,

Not yet. Haven’t received anything since I told them that I would be able to go to Shanghai for interview. is yours a phone interview. I have pm you, btw.

Hi, is there anybody who has information about DSCB Program in Duke? Does it give inverview to international students? Thanks

Just wondering how’s everyone doing this application cycle…

Personally I applied to 10 schools, got flat-out rejected by 5, invited for interview by 3 and waiting on 2 more…

applied to six, 3 invited for interview (had one already), and waiting to hear from the rest.
looks like the decisions for the international come out much slower than for the domestic (based on the response in this thread and the thread for general biomed applicants)

Hey!
I Applied to 11, got 4 interview invitations (one phone interview and the other ones are “in vivo”), 1 rejection and I’m still waiting for the other 6. So far, I had the phone interview (which was great) and my first in vivo interview will be on Tuesday! :slight_smile:
Best of luck for all of us!

interviews (5) (every possible form of interview: Skype, conference, phone
acceptance (1)
decline the interview (2)
withdraw the application (1) once I got the acceptance from other
rejected (3) (one for UC, budget I guess, one for recommendation, one for NO IDEA AT ALL!)

Best of luck !

Applied to 4.

1 Interview invite and it’s the only program I applied to without any problems (all LORs through the net, GREs on time…etc). It’s also the problem that I thought it’s most worth applying to because it’s in my reach so I’m crossing my fingers.
Haven’t heard from the other 3, but I’m sure rejections from 2. Pending on one still.

How do phone/skype interviews go? I guess they grill you more on phone than personal interviews.

In fact, my phone interviews were great! They were very friendly and warm. I think it depends… :)

anyone heard from utsw…lot of international acceptances posted in gradcafe

@ fallbiomed2011
how did you know there were all international? I am waiting for the reply from UTSW as well. Now I am very nervous.

I heard from the source in UTSW that they were still evaluating the applications. From last year (2010) threads I see UTSW invited during January.

immune…i am only speculating since 3 internationals have posted in gradcafe results survey…which is a good number considering may be only 10-20% of applicants may post in gradcafe.but dont worry as yet…you may get one…there is hope for us till maybe MAR1.

I have three friends who had got admission from UTSW. All of them are Chniese students.

Has anyone gotten an interview for UT-Houston Biomedical Sciences past Feb 13-15 weekend? or acceptance?

Ive seen only a couple of people say they got an interview for that date and none past that, so just curious because i still have not gotten one and I know they have 3 more interview weekends.

just got my reject from stanford biosciences. expected though =)
through regular mail. the letter is dated 25 Jan.

@oulileo
are they international and are currently located out of US? Do you have any idea when were they accepted? Thanks.

@immune

Hi, they are in China now. They received admission letters on Feb. 3rd. If you have not received rejection letters, possibly, you have a chance.
