I currently live in Slovakia and I attend a German private school. It’s considered a very good school in Slovakia and everything is in German, but it is quite easy for me. The school is relatively new, therefore we don’t have any clubs or sports. We only have physical education together once a week. The classes are so small we are combined for physical education. I used to attend a British school for nine years, and two years ago I transferred to the German school. Even though the lessons are relatively easy, I don’t get straight A’s because I’m not fluent in German. I applied to a few boarding schools this year but didn’t get in. However, my uncle lives in Denver, Colorado. I applied to a public high school which is in his county but not his neighbourhood. It’s considered a very good school and I believe it’s 11th in the whole state. I am currently a sophomore, but I would repeat 10th grade there and maybe apply to boarding schools again for 11th grade. I don’t know what to do, it’s a huge dilemma for me. Do I go to a public high school in the US that has a lot of opportunities or do I stay in a European private school. Tons of people in the US dream of attending a private school in Europe. I really want to go to a top college in the US and later go to medical school. I don’t know what I should do. Any opinions?
Are you a US citizen? If not, it doesn’t matter where you go for HS, you will still be considered an international student for college admission.
@momofsenior1 I think this thread relates to Boarding Schools - which tend to judge local and international applications according to the applicant’s address (all applications from a US address, and occasionally Canada are considered local, whilst applications from other countries are considered international). At least, that was the case for me.
@momofsenior1 my bad, I didn’t read it thoroughly - it does mention boarding school, however, it seems to focus on college more.
I am a US permanent resident, so if I apply to boarding school or college I think I will be considered as domestic.
If you want to make your life in the US, then come to the US.
