I have already applied to U. of Western Ontario and W. of Ottawa through OUAC as an International Student. How does the process work? Will I receive all my supplemental data forms later in the mail... or do I now have to contact the univ.s separately?

For Ontario universities (at least for applicants from Ontario), all they need are your marks. They don’t care about anything else. If you get accepted, then they’ll mail your additional info. to fill out and all the stuff that you need to submit such as deposits, etc.

If it’s a particularly selective program (i.e. Health Sci at Mac, Ivey, Rotman or you applied for Trinity), they’ll mail you a supplementary application for you to fill out. It’s usually like a few short answers or an essay I believe.

Some also have a time limit. I believe Rotman at UofT requires you to mail in the supp 2 weeks after it arrives at your door. (Note IIRC. I’m not applying there but I have friends that are so this is what I hear from them.)

you should also consider applying for schools in Atlantic Canada, as many International students can get their whole year for $20,000!!!

Okay, so I submitted my OUAC International App last week… now all I do is send my SAT/ACT scores? Done?

Its a good idea to submit your SAT scores, most schools don’t require them but it never hurts to send them in! Goodluck!

yep, if your SAT scores are decent or above average send them in.

I sent them in yesterday… will they still send me an application packet to fill out? I have been given the impression that all one does is apply and send SAT/ACT scores… I do think there is more to it in Canada.

I believe that you will receive everything AFTER you get accepted. For most programs in Canada you just apply online and send your transcripts. That’s it. really simple and basic, we don’t have all the essays, supp. apps and such for most programs.

So, if no supp. app., essays are needed then your good to go. You’ll receive info. on payment, scholarships, residence and such in a package once your accepted. But if you need a package for essays, recommendations, and the like, most programs don’t need that in Canada. We’re all about marks for the most part.

If I were you, I’d call them up and quickly ask them if you need to send anything else as an international applicant. Then see what they say.

If there is a supp app, they’ll mail it to you or email you.

Update: I will contact U. of Western Ontario, but Ottawa has emailed me a receipt of my application… so I’m guessing my application is done.

yep, its really simple in Canada. The only program at W.Ontario that requires a supp. app is their business school I believe. So, if you didn’t apply to that program, then you’re done.

Wow, if only American schools can also have simpler admission programs. Then gain, the USA has much larger student population, so I don’t know how such a method would work here.

I did not apply to Business School (I applied to the Computer Science/IS program). I hope to hear from them soon!

Thanks for all your help.
