I have become very interested in applying to certain universities in the UK, the University of Bath and the University of Nottingham in particular. I have visited both websites and gone to the international student pages, but they don't seem to go into much detail on what scores an American student should have to normally be accepted into these schools. Do I have a chance?

I graduate in spring of 2013.
SAT score-2060
math-660 critical reading-740 writing-660
combined math and critical reading-1400

ACT score-31
I might take this again, and I can probably do better the next time.

I haven't taken any SAT subject tests, but I can in the next year and I have taken five AP exams.
English Language-5
American History-5
Psychology-5
World History-3
Human Geography-4

I plan on taking 5 more tests next year, and I plan on doing well in them, at least a 4. :) I am taking economics, US government, english literature, environmental science, and statistics.

In University of Bath I would be interested in taking an Economics and International Development course and in University of Nottingham I would take Economics BA or BSc.

A few questions-
What is a placement year exactly?
Are these schools good for economics? What about psychology?
Are courses similar to American degrees?
How hard is it to get jobs afterwards with these courses?
Are there similar universities that I should apply to?

Thank you for all of the help.
