i was just wondering.. how does oxford and cambridge accept you? because i know one(or both) goes by your IB scores but you dont take the IB test till may senior year and isnt that too late to wait till then to apply?

so how would a US student apply to oxbridge?
BTW i am a Junior in the IB program. I havent taken the SATs yet but i think they dont matter for oxbridge but im taking them anyways because im applying to mostly US schools.
My GPA is a 3.4 (i know.. its low but those are only from 9th and 10th grade) im working really hard and hopefully i can get it pulled up to a 3.6 or 3.7 (GPAs stated are unweighted)
but gpa doesnt matter for oxbridge because i hear they dont even look at them right?

anyways please help me! idk how you apply because you dont get your scores untill summer before entering university...
HELP!!

They will give you a conditional offer based on your predictions and if you meet them you are in. You have to apply through UCAS. I’m not sure about whether they check your GPA, i know they dont check UK students GPA so i dont think they will ask for it. The deadline for applying to Oxbridge is early October as far as i’m aware.

im new to the whole college application thing but doesnt that mean that going to oxbridge is pretty much a last minute thing… before the summer arent you suppose to tell colleges if you are attending or not? what if you think you will get into oxbridge and then the summer you find out that you cant get in because your scores arent high enough doesnt that mean that you no longer have a school to go to in the fall?

or can you tell a school (say NYU) that you are going there… wait for your scores. and once you get the scores you can drop the school you told you were going to go (NYU) and go to oxbridge… idk if that made any sense… sorry if that confused you!

I believe Oxbridge tends to make more non-conditional offers to US students. If you get a conditional, then talk to the college and talk to whatever US colleges you would use as a backup.
You can only apply to either Oxford or Cambridge and the deadline for both is OCT. 15.
Both want SAT scores and APs from American applicants.
