I am a student from the U.S. and I received a conditional offer from the University of Edinburgh. In order to be admitted I need a 5 on a specific AP exam, and I do not get my scores until July. I feel very confident I got a 5, but of course, just in case, I accepted my place at a school in the U.S. It is coming time to apply for housing and stuff for that school, and I know I should obviously go through that process there, but I am wondering if I should tell the school that it is not actually a sure thing that I am going there. I am just worried they’ll take away my acceptance, if I say I am not 100% dedicated to the school, and I need the back up. Has anyone else been in this position or is currently in this position? I know a lot of people do this when they are waitlisted at their top choice, so perhaps someone in that position would also be able to have some insight.
^At the moment you are going to the US school so act accordingly. If you are accepted at Edinburgh then you can withdraw your US application. I should imagine its a common occurrence, I think there is even a term for it ‘summer melt’, you wont be the first and you wont be the last. It may mean you lose a deposit to the US school so be aware of that. Good luck.

Right. European schools are NOT on our schedule. Their school year begins in October and ends in July.
