US vs UK

just curious....
how do these unis compare with each other for ECONOMICS

Brown, Cornell, Penn, Uchicago

or

Cambridge, LSE, Warwick, Birmigham, Manchester, St. Andrews

Nothing serious... just curious :P

Cornell, U Chicago and Penn have fantastic economics programs from the US list, and I would put them on par with Cambridge and LSE in terms of resources, reputation, and career prospects. If you are intent on economics, you cannot go wrong with any of these aforementioned institutions.

In my point of view then, I dun think UPenn and Chicago can compare with Camb and LSE, bue Cornell is.

Dunc, Cornell is good but not great in Economics. Chicago is arguably #1 in the US in Economics. Certainly one of the top 3 or 4 programs in the US. Penn is also very good in Economics. Cambridge and LSE are also awesome.

i wud rank

lse

chicago

cambridge

UPenn/Brown

Cornell

Others

I would say:

1 Chicago

2 LSE

3 Cambridge

4 Penn

5 Cornell

6 Brown

alexandre - dont u think tht brown's flexible curricullum allows students to have more economics classes (for similar calibre profs) than Cornell?

thx for puttin chicago @ #1 (ea admit :))

I think Cornell and Brown are about the same...but Cornell is more demanding.

oic...wow...i didnt really know that uchicago is that highly respected in economics in the US

anyway congrats to adides for the ea... hopefully i'll see you there :P

Actually waryap, Economists from around the World respect Chicago a great deal. Chicago is not merely limited to the US.

yup, economics and physics @ Chicago are two very well respected departments at Chicago. Many of the breakthrough physics and economics/finance theories originated from Chicago... i think it has something like 70+ noble prize winners for physics and economics as faculties...
