USA Funds Scholarship

Heh, you never know what might happen. Hopefully we only have to wait one or two more days.

The paperwork is in the mail!!! My son received his letter today from Scholarship America saying he had received the scholarship. Yippee!!! It said $1,500 renewable for four years. We only live about an hour away from them, so those of you who live a bit farther will probably have to wait another day or two to get your letters in the mail. I checked the USA Funds website but didn't see an update on there yet, so keep your fingers crossed. I hope everyone else receives the same good news VERY SOON!!!

Thank you for posting! We'll be watching our mail box!

brainomatic, what state do you reside? and what school is your son attending?

We reside in Minnesota. He is attending the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse.

Yeah, because you reside in Minnesota, it's only logical your son received the notification first since the scholarship america is headquartered there. I hope I get the notification tomorrow.

hopefully we all hear by today...since they said that by june 30th we will all be notified

WooHoo! My mom just called and said I recieved my confirmation letter in the mail this morning. $6,000 over 4 years!!!! That's a nice dent in what I have to pay this year. Good luck everyone else!

I got mine in the mail today. It was a real blessing.

I got mine today! I was super amped...6K!

My son was surprised to receive his today too! We thought since we're in CA it might not come until Saturday or Monday!

I didn't apply for this one. When did you guys apply for it and what is needed for the entrance of this scholarship? Are you guy rising senior or going to college this fall?

My son will be headed off to college in the fall. This scholarship as I remember is specifically for low income students. Here's the website <a href="http://www.usafunds.org/planning/access_to_education_scholarship/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.usafunds.org/planning/access_to_education_scholarship/index.html</a> I have to admit I don't remember when my son applied for it..maybe back in January.

who do we contact if we need to change the school that we are going to?

Look at the letter - I'm not looking at it now but I thought that info was on the letter. Otherwise check their website and call the number listed. <a href="http://www.usafunds.org/planning/access_to_education_scholarship/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.usafunds.org/planning/access_to_education_scholarship/index.html</a></p>

they said "email us." I emailed them through the address listed and it said "out of office til july 17." I don't know if that's too late or not

I don't think it will be too late. The letter says they will mail the checks to the students by Aug. 30 (and to allow 3-4 weeks for the check to reach you). The check will be payable to the college. Don't worry that they're out of the office until July 17, there should be plenty of time..it will all be ok!
take care

Sweet got mine.

Can you guys post your GPAs?

GPA 3.96. As was stated earlier, this was a need-based scholarship, so your household income was a major criteria in selection of the recipients.
