USA June SAT 2011 Writing Discussion

I got the guitar question wrong, I chose “did I start”. I’m hoping that’s all I get wrong, and I’m hoping for a 10+ on my essay. I had three examples from US History which I knew were all very relevant, but I don’t know if I developed them well enough or if it was detailed enough. My handwriting also isn’t that great, and neither is my vocabulary

was the one about the berlin wall the experimental one?

if berlin wall was the short paragraph then yes, that was experimental

My improving paragraphs was about architecture, and I had a reading experimental

@rayankees94 I believe that was the right answer?

well then i didnt skip those two that were on that one  the architecture one was ok, im really thinking 5 wrong now  (again, i was pretty confident but some mistakes always happen so this is more like a buffer tbh)

There was one about: Employed properly, the lecturer argued irony is …

at first, I blindly pick is because i thought the tense is wrong. However, irony is not an action, but rather than a definition.
So I though of the phrase “employed properly”??

Or was that an experimental one?

I don’t remember that one…it might be the experimental one

How harsh do you think the curve will be on this? -2 10-11 essay be 780-790?

For the drummers question, I believe that it mentioned “rock bands”, thus “drummers”.

For the curve, I’m guessing

-0 10 = 800
-0 9 = 780
-1 11 = 800
-1 10 = 780
-1 9 = 770
-2 12 = 800
-2 11 = 780
-2 10 = 760

Was the experimental the one that started off talking about Scott Joplin (1st question)?

tell me the improving paragraphs essay, I’ll be able to identify the experimental based on that since I had a CR experimental

I feel like there was a tough question at the beginning of the first of the two writing sections. On one of the first two pages? Anybody else?

Was the spot the error question about the guy who did something about the awareness of global warming a no error question?

There has been little to none discussion with respect to the revising part of first writing section. Is this because the couple ‘best revision’ questions in the first writing section that gave people, like myself, pause aren’t as easily recalled as the questions from the very last section?

there was a question how she was also a ceramic artist too

among and amongst are interchangeable right?

Skorpius7

Generally, “among” is correct in the United States, while “amongst” is correct in England. Neither one will lose you points if you wrote one or the other in an essay because no one ever really teaches small things like that. The same goes for words like “toward” / “towards.”

So no one has talked about the improving paragraphs questions at all. On both the normal and experimental sections, the one question that bothered me on each was the same exact type of question-- both of which asking if an oddly placed sentence in the paragraph should have been moved, kept the same, or deleted from the paragraph. On the real section, it was about homeowners being surprised landmarked homes rose in value. Does anyone remember the answer? At first, I put delete it, because it fit in really oddly in the paragraph, but then I thought to myself that the question was there for a reason, and it was testing our ability to integrate or something.

Both of them were delete, I believe.
