^wednesday??? the 21st? whats going on then?

Ilikeyou, read your email again.

No, I go to a school in Massachusetts and I got my acceptance on Friday. She wants the forms faxed by Monday, so it’s odd that some people haven’t gotten them yet.

By the way, to those who are accepted so far, are you all non-seniors?

So is Wednesday the official Finalist release date?

Because on the website it says the 30th?

dang, this thread is gonna make me unproductive until wednesday
haha

I was told that they were done with the corrections early and that postings would be on Wednesday.

I am a junior, and the other person from my school can either be a junior or a senior.

^do they have another round of calls to make?

^ No idea.

^^^^^^ or however far up it was, I am a junior.

@ Samgunno on page 33:

I don’t know, the person who did it last year left. but that email sounds legit.
This is really incredibly wierd.
The website still says releasing on the 30th!

And I haven’t gotten anything yet.

yea i emailed kathy frame before. new director lolz.

sigh. it will be really sad if 3 previous silver medalists dont make it.

It’s possible they’re splitting the camp into multiple groups…based on grade/age… for example, one group for the top N scores in semifinals, and the other group for the top 20-N nonsenior scores not in the top N. It could be different coordinators/calling dates for each group. That can explain why there’s so few people as of now.

I noticed on the IBO website for USA ( http://www.ibo-info.org/countries/usa ) it said “The top 20 are selected without regard to race, ethnicity, gender or religious affiliation.”, but it did not mention “age”, implying that there can be a bias on age.

Lol or, we just got plain owned.

No. I highly doubt hey are splitting camp by any method. Most likely scenario is that they will finish calling on monday. That’s it.

^ yeah, probably.
the cee website said that finalists are determined strictly by merit, so there wouldn’t be age discrimination.

has anyone received a call before friday? I don’t know what their office hours are, but I doubt they can get to all 20 people on the same day, esp. if some are on vacation.

shrug

Kathy Frame emailed me back today, saying that she got my fax. So I guess that means I’m in? More waiting until Wednesday; only time will tell.

No splitting. They would announce it if they would make such a drastic change.

But phospho, that would mean you didn’t make it…? :(

No, it’s perfectly possible that they call today, because if they only called on Friday then the 3 silver medalists from last year who participated this year did not make it. That is clearly not possible.

Indeed.

She said in her email, though, that she wanted the forms faxed to her by 5:00 pm today. That leaves quite a narrow margin for people who don’t have fax machines.

In any case, best of luck to all.

hmm, could they possibly have barred previous finalists from competing again?
if she does call today, I’m sure there would be a different deadline for those people.

^Such a drastic change in policy would surely have been announced.
