USABO Questions

Hi All,

I've only taken honors Bio in 9th grade (I'm in 11th right now) and I have no experience with AP Bio material. Is it at all realistic for me to qualify for USABO semifinals in the time I have?

If so, what resources would you all recommend?

How much of a time commitment do you all think this would require?

Thanks so much

i know…there is no available info on how or what to study as there is for math competitions. maybe you have to be lucky enough to go to a school that has a teacher intersted in the competition

bump. anyone??

i heard campbell bio. know it front and back. not too hard, it’s a good book.

Could a Barron’s SAT II Bio book be enough to pass to semifinals?

Bump. Anyone?

^^ definitely not

There used to be a section on how to prepare on the USABO site, but I can’t find it due to the redesign…

Anyway, I know that the primary textbook they suggested for study was Campbell’s book, but not much else.

this is probably a little late @_@

HOWEVER
for next year’s olympiad, the USABO is based off the Campbell & Reese text book. even if you just take honors bio, if you are persistant and patient, you can probably get into camp. just study ap bio and the C&R textbook :)

thanks for the advice!
