How big exactly is this contest? I got to the semi-finalist round of it (the AIME) and am pretty sure it's impossible for me to move on. Would a score of like a 4/5 look amazing for NU? lol I just made the cutoff. I got an 88.5 this year = D. Guess what the cutoff was = p

They’d prob smile at it. But i know it’s a bigger deal if u do engineering or a STEM. I know MIT explicitly asks for your score on the app… So it’s pretty well known.

Just my 2 cents…

There are several thousands AIME qualifiers every year in US, thus I am not sure how heavy being an AIME qualifier will weigh on your college apps. However being an USAMO qualifier will definitely make a difference. This year only about 250 students will be crowned as USAMO qualifiers and the USA IMO team will be selected from this highly elite group. I am sure this will speak highly of your mathematical and problem solving ability just being in this group. Statistically and historically, most past USAMO qualifiers were highly recruited by schools such MIT, CalTech, Stanford and Harvard.

Good luck to you!

Only about 250 people in Illinois made AIME last year (7 in Rhode Island… fun fact). Hopefully NU likes to see qualifiers. Lol I have very small chances of becoming a finalist in USAMO since qualifications matter on both you AMC 12 score and your AIME score.

And thanks. I’ll probably need luck.
