Hi am planning on transferring to USC for Fall 2006. I want to be in their film program but it is one of the toughest in the nation to get into. I also have a real interest in television, acting, and critical studies. I was considering critical studies for my 2nd major choice but then I was thinking I might like broadcast journalism better because I have a performing background and it it the perfect blend of the television business and performing. How good is the broadcast journalism program at USC?

You can find out more about USC broadcast journalism at this website http://ascweb.usc.edu/asc.php?pageID=82

At this link you can find out more about the USC Annenberg School of Communication in general: http://ascweb.usc.edu/home.php

If you're into broadcast journalism, here is a list of other universities that offer broad. jour. programs: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/majors/brief/major_9-0402_brief.php

Maybe you can find some back-up/safety schools from that list.

Best wishes! Annenberg is a very good school in general.

Thank you but you didn't relly answer my question. The oinly place I'm interested in transferring to is USC. If I don't get in there I will stay in NY at Hofstra University. I want to know from someone who has been in it or knows someone who has or has heard from word-of-mouth if the broadcast journalism program at USC is good or not. I have already looked at all the information on the Annenberg School of Communication on the USC website and from that I am interested but I want an unbiased opinion of the program. Also how competitive is it? I'm hoping not nearly as competitive as the film program. Thank you.

yes, Annenberg is one of the best Comm programs out there, i do go to USC, but i'm not in the comm program and i simply know it's one of the top ones. i'm not sure that you'll find a USNEWS rankings of sorts that makes this official though.

interestingly enough i'm also interested in Broadcast Journalism for the same reasons you are (a combination of television production and performing), but for graduate level education.

Since you attend USC, do you know how competitive the School of Comm, particularly Broadcast Journalism is? Also, are you involved with Greek Life or do you know people who are, and if so, what is it like? I am currently in the Hofstra University colony of the Delta Chi Fraternity and there is also a Delta Chi chapter at USC, but I am not the sterotypical fraternity brother as I do not drink, and I do really well in school, and I do a lot of other extracurriculars. Do you think I could fit in in USC Greek Life? Thanks for your help. By the way ,what is your major, spincut?

In reference to Greek life and the line where I said I do not drink. All my brothers right now do so I'm cool with it and don't mind going to parties or anything or hanging out with people who do. I just want to know if drinking is the main reason people are in fraternities or if it is for the camraderie as well?
