USC 2009 transfer thread

Anyone interested in USC 2009?

of course :}

Chances for sophomore admittance, great HS record (SAT 2070/1400), UW Gpa 3.95 with 6-7 AP classes all at 5 (except 1 4 for a class not taken, just the test given), solid EC's. Going to small private religious school next year, taking rigorous load?

Yeah, when does the application come out?

well, im still contemplating transfer. But im more concerned about the financial aspects. Since I am international, i am only eligible for scholarships. Could anyone please shed light on the range of scholarships or if someone has heard the amount previous admitted transfers have received (from scholarships only)?

so when do we need to start filling out forms

Wayyy too many USC threads, but yes, I do plan on applying for '09 as a sophomore.

I am applying to USC as a junior transfer for the Fall term. Part 1 already came out in late June. I already submitted it. Part 2 comes out in mid-July.

Hey guys,
So I was accepted to USC for Fall 2008 and these boards really helped me in the admissions process. Of course, I had to read through hundreds on old threads to find patterns and information. I've done a lot of research so if any of you need help or have a list of questions regarding the application/status changes/OASIS/financial aid please do not hesitate to ask on here or privately. I will be pasting a larger information post on here at a later date. Best to all of you. :)

Looks out of date (says 2007 form for 2008 year), linsper how did you get the forms already?

I'm interested! I'm a freshman this year at Orange Coast College and hope to get into USC next fall... I just picked my classes for the fall...

Mass Communications

Western Civ. History

Film Appreciation

Anthropology

I've started my essay already and am getting it proof read. I plan on getting a 4.0, but if I get anything below a 3.6 I'll be surprised. My major is communications (Anneberg) which I hear is easier than the Letters & the Arts school.

I have previous job experience and was in my high school marching band senior year, but I'll probably join a club this year.

I'm really excited and motivated! I hope I get in!

MattG728- Actuall, Annenberg has a ~10% acceptance rate. The figures for 2007 were 783 applicants and 78 or so accepted transfers.

Do you have the stats for CLAS? I have a friend who is thinking of transferring.

Thanks for the stat Woman of Troy,

Well hopefully I'm one of the 10% this year!

Can anyone like give the people applying advice? I know we have two HUGE threads on it, but I cant read 500 pages lol... Anyone have any tips on just anything to help us out or things that can help the process move along smoothly? Or advice on whats more important grades or EC? Anyone know how I can get people at SC to know my name and who I am so they can see how dedicated I am to this?

Concentrate on grades first, but make sure you present yourself as a well-rounded student with club participation, volunteering, etc. I do believe they put a lot of emphasis on your essay, so you should start as early as possible on that and get it proofread by trusted professors, etc.

Of course, I haven't gone through the transfer process yet, so I'm not really a great candidate to give advice, but I have visited the USC thread many times.

Thanks jk_91 for the response

kmzizzle-To fill out Part 1 for Fall 2009...

USC website-->Admission-->Apply Now-->Apply Online-->Begin Here

You will have to create a User ID and Password. Then, you head back to that Apply Online page and sign in with Part 1 waiting to be filled out. If you're confused for some reason, let me know and I'll clarify it for you. However, it should be pretty easy to find.

I've pretty much read the whole USC 2008 transfer thread...I was bored. It took me a week to read. Lmao...at least I know what to expect.

@MattG728- One method that i believe to have helped my friend was to get to know your counselor. My friend had a 3.48 GPA and managed to get accepted. By emailing your counselor, i believe your chances are helped considerably. But yea, grades and EC's should still be foremost. Another way to get noticed is for you to do something that makes you stand out that is related to your major. For example, my major is business admin with a focus in finance and econ. For my application, i stated that i entered the stock market and have some experience in it. Don't stick with the basics. go out and explore.

How do we update Application #1 when summer grades come out?
