Are there any people on here trying to transfer into the architecture program?

I'm curious what you guys think my shot is at Marshall. I have a 3.6 GPA at a CCC, but since my first semester, a period of over 40 units, I have a 3.8. The semester was going well until the wildfires hit SD County. I live in the area of SD that was being covered by CNN because it was the hardest hit part of the county. While we were evacuated we thought our house was gone as many houses on my street were destroyed, though luckily we discovered it was still standing when we were allowed to return. The whole situation really shook me though and my grades suffered because of it. I don't want to write about it in my application because I think its a lame excuse but do you guys think it would help?

i think your gpa is already solid enough to get you into USC Marshall. To answer your question though, i do think you should mention it in your app, i think under the Short Answers: Optional section. Just a sentence or two to explain how the fires affected you

good luck

Does anybody have information pertaining to The School of Public Policy Planning and Development? They do not provide information such as stats, number of apps received, and yield. Is there anybody who has gotten in?
Also, what are my chances?
I currently have a 4.0 GPA and started up an advertisement business that coincides with the real estate industry over the summer. I devised a marketing strategy that maximizes profits for student properties that have been hit by an economic down turn through using behavioral economic concepts. I published this in an honors paper. I have completed a majority of the GE's, but still have a few to go. I have a 4.0 in my pre-reqs. My work load has been a steady 13-15 hours a semester. If I left anything out let me know.

I suffered some trials and tribulations in HS, which culminated in me getting my GED. Will this effect my chances of getting in?

If you have over 30 units in college then your HS record will not have much, if any, impact on their decision. That being said, try to turn the experience into a positive that you've learned and grown from.

I milked the growth part. Do you have any information pertaining to the SPPD, Hippo50? It seems to be a less popular major amongst the transfers.

I'll apologize in advance for posting another naive chance thread. Well here I go.

I'm a freshman at Notre Dame
3.61 first semester GPA
I had like.. a 3.3 in high school and a 2340 SAT.

any input? my second semester courseload is pretty rough

y7bbb6, USC will look at your freshman stats. Even tho your HS GPA is lower than the average im sure youll be fine, especially since you got accepted to ND. I think having a 3.6 GPA at ND is pretty solid because it is considered a much tougher school than a community college that a lot of kids will be applying from. just my 2 cents :)

which school within USC are you applying to?

Sorry but I have a "What are my chances of getting into USC?" post.

I am currently a freshman at a major 4-year university (not in California but I attended HS in California). (One of the nation's top 30) On my application I listed Business Administration as my first choice major and Economics as my second choice major.

I have 17 credits completed (we're on the quarter system) and will have 32-35 credits completed by mid/late-March when our winter quarter ends. By the end this school year I will have 45-50 credits completed.
Here are some of my stats:
GPA- 3.9
Fall completed classes-
Composition, Calculus I, and an Elective
(I will be taking Micro Econ, Calculus II, and a gen ed in our winter quarter, and I will be taking Macro Econ and two other gen eds in the spring quarter. My goal is to keep my GPA at a 3.8 at least, but I'm going to do everything I can to keep it at a 3.9 or above.)

I went to a very competitive academic high school. I graduated with honors with a 3.72 GPA. (Lots of APs and Honors classes)

My ECs are really strong. I have lots of intern/work experience, and I show serious commitment to a couple fields of interest throughout high school and college.

Any ideas as to my chances?

Why can't I list my courses and grades on the online application? I have filled everything out except this and this essay.

No Info on SPPD, sorry. I believe someone applied to and got accepted to it in last years transfer thread. You may want to look there.

grey_syntactics, I noticed that too and thought it was weird because I remember entering all that info when I applied last year as an incoming freshman

uscASAP8: I like your name hah, but I think you have an excellent chance. All your stats look solid, keep it up and good luck!

Hi, I have a quick question. I am apping to Marshall for Fall 09 and could not input my College grades. I entered the school attended and clicked yes. It then takes me to the essay page and doesn't allow me to click the grades link. Is this normal or did I mess something up?

I posted that same question almost verbatim two posts above you. Take a read before wasting your time on an intro and a redundant question.

Hi! I was wondering if you were a transfer student or freshman acceptant to USC?

If you were a transfer student, what was your gpa, and did you take the SAT's(are they required?)

Thanks!

Hey! I am at a community college and applying to USC, do they require SAT scores? Or would it be better to call the admissions?

Thanks

SAT scores are not required of junior applicants.

Thanks grey_

don't know if you went to USC or not, but I think my 3.4 might be to low, eh?

Haha after reading all this, I just realized how sad this will be for me, it looks like I'm the only one applying with a GPA under 3, (2.78), with about 60 credits. But I've became hard of hearing during my time in college, which has affected me greatly, but I don't think that compensates for being under the 3.8 GPA by one whole point.

Anyway, I'll be lurking around here more, and see how everyone is doing.
