Do we apply for on-campus housing after we receive our decision or now?

After the decision (ugh)

Thanks grey

Then why do I keep reading about this January 20th deadline date? Is that just for freshman who got early decision? I kept reading and it said that if you don't apply in January, that you keep applying from March-May. Well how the hell does that work for Transfers? The earliest we hear back is April 1st, and most will get spring request grades.

If I don't get on campus housing I'm screwed!

That's for returning students. Judging by last year's admits-only thread, many people (less the spring grade request people) were able to get USC housing. Although it wasn't always the most desirable housing. I'm talking in terms of distance from the campus, etc.

I am a Freshman at UC Riverside and want to transfer to USC as a sophomore.

I passed 4 AP tests in High School which translated into 24 Units at UCR (Quarter Units I'm guessing, so this would be 16 semester units?). I will also have 30 semester units completed by the end of this year through my courses taken at UCR. This means my High School record will not be taken into account right?

I had a GPA of 3.48 first quarter and hope to bring it up to around a 3.6 or 7 by the end of this year.

I am undeclared at UCR because I'm not sure what I want to do yet, so on my transfer application I currently have my major as undecided as well. Since I am trying to transfer as a sophomore is this okay?

And overall what are my chances of getting in if I have a 3.6 or 3.7 by the end of the year?

Thanks

I highly recommend this thread of 2008 transfer decissions : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/513075-official-usc-transfer-decisions-2008-stats-only.html
best way to check your own stats

If I have 4.0 gpa right now and get like straight Bs for spring semester, is that going to affect the chance of getting in? Do they care a lot about spring grades?

um that would be a negative grade curve, and would make you look either lazy or the rigor of your course slowed you down..so yes they'd consider it. i also depends if its your first semester. getting A's on your first semester and getting B's 2nd semester, would bolster you down to a 3.3 average

hey kmkizzle,

Just put your transfer GPA, because they're going to look at both GPA's anyways so you might as well be honest right off the bat. And if you're transferring as a Sophomore, then list you HS EC's, that's what I did.

yeah MattG728, I REALLY hope we find out soon and can get housing. It would be a nightmare rushing everything last minute

Can you guys tell me the correct address to send in my Teacher Recommendation and Transcripts?

WestCoast4Life: Forms can also be sent by mail to USC Office of Admission; Undergraduate; University Park Campus ; Los Angeles, CA 90089-0911. Please include all cover and closing sheets to ensure that your forms can be processed.

I got that from the application, hope it helps

I have a question about spring grades. My spring semester does not end until June 20th and it takes forever for my grades to be released (well at least to me). I am worried about that since those classes will really raise my GPA (i know I can get straight As in those classes) but I am afraid it will be to late for them to see them once they are available for USC. What can I do?

This is an urgent question
I just mailed out my supplement applications and I was reading this thread:
so if I'm not an international student, do I need mail in the bank statements, financial aid stuff? and cover sheet?
someone help! now that means I have to re-mail stuff

i'm an international student cause i finished highschool in a different country but im a citizen... i have a weird situation... how does it work for me. they say sat scores are not required in my case if i have below 30 units... i have good transcript, reco, ec's, etc...

will they literally ignore my app?

jeez, no. That sheet says in huge block letters across the top: INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY. Does it not?

again- jeez, no. If there is a problem they will inform you. If anything, take some initiative and call. They're there to help.

has anyone NOT submitted their app yet?

I think for spring grades, if they actually request you to send the spring transcript, they will wait for you, but if they reject you in June instead of asking for more grades.........you will lose your chance

I have not submitted yet......... will do it on Sunday....i think as long as you do it b4 Feb2, its gonna be ok

anyone know how it wuld look if i was to take only 9 units on my spring semester..? Is that ok..I ve basically already have 70 transferable units, so i dont feel like taking classes anymore. WILL it affect my chances??>!!??

There are some paranoid people here. Much more so than last year...

I was wondering if anyone could read my essay....to see if it is too lengthy to the USC application. I tried to cut it down...but it just did not seem right. I need some advice. Let me know if anybody would like to read it. The words are exactly 1400....700 over the limit...I know....just need some advice and help....

Also for the optional statement can it be lengthy like the short answers?
