SalvationArmani- Yes, USC evaluates your cumulative GPA (every single class you've ever taken at the college level, regardless of subject) and utilizes it as an important factor for admission.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help assess my shot at getting into USC.

My stats:

College GPA: 3.533 (after 1 year)
Units: 45 and 17 more this semester
EC's: DECA (marketing club) champion in highschool

I know how ridiculously competitive Marshall is but do I have a shot with a great essay? After this semester I could get my GPA up to a mid 3.6 and higher ( hopefully :) ) after spring. My course load has been geared toward SDSU, with a definite upward trend, and I'll have all the Marshall prereqs done after the spring but I'll still need two more (Diversity and Western Cultures/traditions) USC GE's. Would waiting until the summer to fulfill the final GE's significantly lower my odds? How much of a shot would I have with Annenberg or CLAS also? Thanks guys, I'll really appreciate any help.

^No shot. don't even bother.

LOL JK. i am applying soon too, average GPA is 3.8ish, but the EC is a plus. Upward trend is always good, you have a decent, but not solid chance at getting in - if your applying to Marshall.

When is part II due?

February 1st I believe? Just do a search on the USC admissions site...

who is done with their essay already?

i really want to get it done now so i can get it peer-edited and whatnot and make it perfect come feb.

Im also a little confused.. is the Entrepreneurship program at USC a major or electives you take under the business major or a concentration of bus. admin or what
I didn't see it under majors in the part I application

Woo hoo!!

USC transfers '09 rep it.

Busting my ass to transfer as a Soph this year, super excited!! =D

Double post =P

haha here here for sophomore transfers to USC! Trying to get into Annenberg!

so i want to transfer to marshall but i have a couple of questions

does voluntering and all the stuff necessary? i work full time btw
if i get an associates degree in business first will it help?

to transfer into marshall, you dont need an associates, it wont' even help. what matters to transfering into marshall is your GPA, and you fulfilling their requirements, which is 2 econ classes and calculus course, with the recommended 2 accounting classes.

Transferable GPA: 4.0
Non-Transferable GPA: 3.91 (I got a B in a non-transferrable math course...)
Units: 33
GE: Categories 1,2 and 5 are not complete... are they of great importance? I have a lot of GE's just none of the transferable courses fall into the 10 or so courses under each category....
Pre-Req: All except for business calc and writing (english 1b) (finishing them spring semester) Also taking Acct1A spring semester.
EC: Volunteer at a local hospital. (Mission Viejo), recreational basketball and weightlifting
Work: intern @ Penton Media (a Business to Business marketing firm)
Legacy: none, first gen.
Applying to: Marshall - business administration
2nd major: Econ
current school: 33 units @ Saddleback College / Irvine Valley College

any opinions on my chances?

Are the Categories 1, 2, and 5 required to be completed before transferring? Do you guys recommend that I finish one course in each of these areas before transferring / will it affect my admission probabilities?

I just spoke with a USC admissions counselor (or whoever they have you talk to on the phone). He said that those categories can be completed once admitted into USC.

what about language and diversity

I thought marshall didnt need language.. and i guess i have to take soc i ?

i'm a little confused with the pre req.

for my major (biology) it says pre reqs are like orgo 1 +2 , physics 1 +2 , calc ..etc...but if i finished ALL of those, i'd be done with my major.

anyone have any say with this?

btw, USC doesn't care if you took a language in HS right? i'm guessing i STILL have to take a language at USC regardless?

I don't think I understand your question... what do you mean by you'd be done with your major? Those classes are only lower-division pre-requisites so that you may enter the major as a Junior. Subsequent to that you will be doing about two years worth of upper-division work. Once you're done with that, then you will have finished your major. Is this what you meant?

The following majors DO NOT require foreign language:
-Architecture
-Business Admin.
-Accounting
-Writing for Screen and Television
-Dental Hygiene
-All Engineering majors
-B.F.A. (Fine Arts)

You should take Soc. 1 either way... you can only take so many business, calculus, and econ classes, right?

I'm applying for Marshall, currently a Frosh, and econ is only available to sophs and up. Also, im not taking calculus, but business math...

is it REALLY necessary for me to b taking Calc and Econ as a freshman applying for sophomore transfer?

I can take calc next semester and maybe take econ at a comm college nearby

No. But if you're applying as a Soph, then the admissions committee will also look at your HS record. What were your HS stats? Did you take Calc in HS?
