USC 2009 transfer thread

Your was updated as well! W. T. F. Well, what major are you TravisR005

In reference to #1708, hippo50, I "applied to three majors" informally, but I explained how they're doable and relevant to having a breadth of knowledge with depth... They might wind up being major/minors/concentration of classes.

I talked to my counselor to make sure doing that was okay, and he said to have it down when you list pre-reqs and grades and stuff.

Of course to see if its actually doable, I'd have to talk with an advisor, but theoretically, it's possible if I take 18-20 credits for four of the six semesters at USC and the courses are available.

that's ambitious.

i hope my status updates today.

i got updated today too:

We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

I just wondering why there is such small differentiation between our messages, because I noticed other people have the June 1st on theirs?

pootie-

that's what I have on mine, and I believe it is what the others had on theirs before they received the 'June 1st' part

Yeah, I think that's the very first one I got after I turned in the app...

And my main goal in transferring to USC is majoring in Critical Studies at SCA. But if I can, I'd like to take a wide range of classes. CS and English isn't too big of a stretch, but adding neuroscience in there just makes it so much more fun.

this is ridiculous I hate waiting and I am faxing over tax returns and figured out my parents' returns had no signatures and I cannot stop it! fmylife hahaah

I was wondering if I could get chanced? Um, I'm currently a freshman animation student at Howard University; I'll have 30 credits by the end of the year, hopefully maintaining my 3.4(mostly art classes, but also the highest level Japanese course they offer here, and an English course + 2 high AP English scores). No ECs here... >_> Obviously, based off my college stuff, I'm not looking too hot.

The thing is, I actually got into USC LAST year(Viterbi for Comp Sci), but turned them down because of financial reasons. Because of this, I feel like my high school record is pretty strong. Would that be enough to get me in again? It's like I wasted a year here, and I'm desperate to get to a college that actually gives a damn about their art program...

EDIT: I applied as an art major, but my portfolio wasn't ready on time, so they said not to bother, they'd consider me as an undeclared. Is that true?

rowd149 - If you applied for this year for Fall 09', I would say you have a pretty good shot at getting in. Even though your GPA is at a 3.4 and it's questionable about the 30 credits if they are transferrable. But I would have to say that you do have a good shot at getting in because they'll look at your HS work (which you were accepted).

For your edit question, I have really no idea. I'm assuming if the counselor said that then they might be correct.

they > us. if they said it, i'd take their word over anyone elses here lol

zircushio---FIGHT ON!!!!!
Arch- I really liked your eassy, sorry it took my forever to get back. It was really thought out and written very nice. I felt your passion for films

rowd149 - The Japanese class will transfer, but there's a cap on art classes. The English class should fill WRIT 130 and the APs transfer with 3+ (assuming you took them last year and earlier). The 3.4 hurts, but what about this semester?

we should make an epic war movie like saving private ryan or band of brothers, where a squad of soldiers who were all roommates at USC go to dday and stuff. any film majors out there?

i would personally have "FIGHT ON" stitched on my back (idk if anyone remember saving private ryan, one of the guys has "BROOKLYN" stitched on his) lol

My status just updated saying that they were missing information; specifically my transcript. I don't get why. I talked to a person in admissions who said what I faxed in December was acceptable. I didn't want my school to fax it since they charge $18. I'm guessing they need like an official/ stamped one.

If i am accepted by Marshall, can I change my major to EE after a semester? Is Viterbi as prestige as Marshall in terms of ranking and all

Hey, this is my first post, I am planning to transfer to USC under film major.

This afternoon, I received a phone call from cinematic arts admission and asked me to send unofficial winter & spring transcript.

Did any of you have a phone call from USC??

Does anyone know how hard is it to get into the CS/BA programm as a marshall student?

my status says:

"We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1."

it was updated 3/11

Also to whoever was asking, here's the link about past acceptance USC transfer stats:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/513075-official-usc-transfer-decisions-2008-stats-only-4.html

k accept me thx

I figured out my schedule for the next three years if I transfer... I can squeeze in a double major and a minor with two fun electives, or I can try three majors by overloading to 24 for two of the six semesters...

My app has the "We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1," status since 3/19.
