You MUST take econ to apply to Marshall, as well as the equivalent to Math 118, which is Business Calculus. They are REQUIRED prerequisites.

hmmm. dang.

Average HS stats:
GPA: 3.68uw, 3.94w
SAT: 1970
3's on 3 AP tests
Lots of Extracurriculars (sports, captain, stugo)

I didn't take Calc at all in HS, college alg instead, and right now im in MIS and next semester will take Business Math.

Do you think my business math at my school will transfer to USC's Biz math?

Look it up -> USC ARR : Articulation

First fall semester

12 units completed = 4.0

First fall = calc 1 5 units, english 101 3 units etc....9 units total

Student government rep of finance

I know of applicants who are in the "Trojan Family"...does that add any advantage?

Yeah there's a box you check on the application exactly for that. They wouldn't particularly want a diverse student population would they?

But by being in the "trojan family," do they have an advantage?

Not at all, hell, even legacy is useless now a days so I don't see remotely how associating with someone at USC will give you an edge.

actually it is. Because I am under trojan family. I called usc and they said basically if u maintain a 3.4 gpa with trojan family status your chances are extremely good.

audioslavery is correct. For those of you that haven't read the 2008 applicant or accepted thread, 3.8 is the average GPA of accepted USC transfers. Those accepted to Marshall and Annenberg are usually higher. Legacy and affiliation with current students, if you really think about it, means nothing. Good for knowing people, but it's not like these are influential enough to sway the adcoms decision. Especially if the applicant's GPA is substandard and they have no meaningful extracurriculars on the application.

does anyone know the transfer GPA for USC?

Read Woman.Of.Troy's post,

3.8 this year.

Good luck everyone, hehe, I'm so up for the challenge of Soph transfer

Hi guys!

I'm a sophmore UNDERGRAD, Mass Media Communications major at NYU, transfering to University of Southern Cali's Annenberg school of Communications in pursuit of my career as a host for a major entertainment channel. The process will take place in Spring 2009 for fall 2009. Would anyone care to chance me?

NYU - Steinhardt School of Culture, Media, and Communications

Thanks a lot!

jackfitz, 3.4 seems a little low. Did they say that this year?

calichic - your resume is rather impressive. I don't know much about transfers to USC from four year institutions, but you seem like a worthy candidate.

Again, i'm not well informed on four year institution transfers, but you seem like a pretty solid individual. For a competitive school like Annenberg, the only thing lacking is your GPA, but that can be compensated because most of us are bringing in 3.8's from community college, not four year universities.

My opinion - turning down an applicant with your experience and evident dedication would be difficult.

Good luck, hopefully we'll all make it to USC next fall! :)

if only you cured cancer.

I have a couple of questions for soph transfer:

What is the sophomore transfer rate as opposed to the junior transfer rate?

While it says that you have to 30 units completed, is this by the time you send in the app or by the end of the year?

First Semester (Fall):
Sociology 185
Psychology 165
Math 160 (Intro to Statistics)
Film History
English 100
Mass Comm

Second Semester (Spring):
English 101 Honors
French 180
Art History Honors
Anthropology Honors
&& Marine Science w/ Lab

So, I will have my first semester completed but that will only be 18 units so just let me know how the process works. I will be done at the end of spring with all of the pre-reqs, except for the college level foreign language.

This is following OCC's articulation agreement, but is that if you are transferring as a junior?

My High School record is not that fantastic, like a 3.3 gpa and 1700 SAT, should i just wait and transfer in as a junior? I would love to as a soph though.

I'm just confused, hopefully someone can help me clear all this up. Thanks!

Im a freshman at chabot junior college in the Bay Area and i want to transfer to USC in the Fall of 09 and i was wondering if any body could give me advice on what they did to get in??????? thanks

FUTUREtrojan15:

Basically, get good grades (avg last year was ~3.8gpa) and build up your app/resume with clubs, comm service, work, etc.
... those are the bare essentials

then work on getting some good teacher recommendations, write solid personal statement, and hope for the best

what happens if im still taking classes during the summer in my community college? and they still need those grades? do i just get rejected?
