Where else are the Communication Majors planning to apply to? I’m shooting for, Cal, UNC (North Carolina), and Florida State. What are other good colleges for Communication?

hey im applying for international relation/global business and i was wondering what should i put as a second choice international relation or communication ? what is the easiest one to get into ?
thanks

I turend in Part I of the app, and I thought I read that they were supposed to send you confirmation through both snail mail and e-mail, but I have yet to get mine…

Has anyone gotten theirs?

@archieg yea you should have gotten a PART I confirmation as soon as you paid and sent it out in the e-mail you registered in, if not they will mail you a letter of confirmation in the mail as well. USC likes to always send both out because sometimes of situations like this where you don’t receive the e-mail, you should be fine. I advise you to just double check the e-mail you registered ur app as.

Do I have a chance?

Stats
4.0 GPA (40 credits by the time I apply, 60 credits overall by the time I transfer)

2.8 hs gpa 1440/2400 SAT

ECS
President of Phi Theta Kappa
President of Psychology Club (future major)
Senator in Student Government
Peer mentoring club (tutors underpriveleged students)

PS- I’m a URM

lol orson NO U DONT HAVE A CHANCE :|

Do you think they’ll ask for a SGR? I can’t handle that!

OrsonSwells - URM doesn’t affect admissions in the state of California because of the Bakke case. But seriously, you do look like you have a chance. Given that you will not have any outstanding prereqs not taken prior to spring semester, you will probably not receive a SGR. This is because you will have enough units which I’m assuming that 3/4 are transferrable. What you should be probably worrying about is if you’ll be either junior or sophomore standing.

Why should I be worried about my class standing? Will it affect how much financial aid I recieve?

no but if you xfer to sophmore they might look at HS stats/sat when if u xfer to junior it doesnt matter at all (unless u want to put it)

If I have 60 credits completed by the time I transfer, aren’t I technically still a sophomore? For USC junior standing means 64 credits as opposed to 60 for most schools. Of course, I’m assuming all my credits will transfer which is very unlikely.

At USC, you’re still a junior until you have 64 credits?! I’m transfer with 61 and I was assuming I was gonna be a junior…I want to graduate two years after transferring…What should I do?

Yeah it’s 64 credits. Don’t assume all 61 credits will transfer. As far as graduating in 2 years, you can always take summer classes or beef up your workload each semester.

I figured all 61 would transfer because my school has an articulation agreement with USC. Do they offer summer classes at USC, or would I have to go to a CC?

Then yes you can expect all your credits to transfer. USC does offers summer courses.

But I’m screwed anyway since I won’t have 64? Ugh I love how I didn’t see that in ALL the research I did. =/

Can you stay on campus in the summer if you take summer courses? I live in California, but I don’t drive…

You’re not necessarily screwed, you’ll just have to beef up your scedule. I’m not sure if you’re allowed to stay on campus during the summer. Contact the university.

ps- Why are you in such a rush to graduate in two years. An extra semester won’t kill you. You should enjoy your college years. :)

Hmm okay I’ll do that then! Because I’ll already be two years ahead (I’m 16, I’ll be 17 when I transfer, and even though I’m supposed to be HS class of 2010, I’ll be starting junior year of college), so I don’t see a point in slowing down now! [:

Okay, so I have a question for anyone who knows: what can I do to improve my application and therefore be more competitive for admission?

Basically, I’m a CCC student, at the end of this semester I’ll hopefully have a 3.92 GPA, and hope to keep it that way through spring semester, 60 transfer credits (semester), Sociology major, female double minority (don’t know if it matters, but hey), 2 years ahead (currently 16, when I transfer I’ll be 17) because I graduated a year early and will finish 60 units after only one year of CC by Spring 2010. …And that’s pretty much all I have going for me. I don’t have any ECs and I don’t work, but I know that my writing skills are excellent, so I’m hoping that since my personal statement will be amazing it will help. I know they expect more from the CC transfer students than the ones coming from a university, which worries me a bit, so what else can I do to improve my chances? And does USC require letters of rec for transfer students?

what are the respective averages of Intl Relations and Intl Relations/global business ??

@BoricuaM i think you have really strong chances to get in as sociology major, however if you really want to improve ur app maybe do some community services or get involved in your school
