Thanks for the encouragement man! I think if I bring my grades up I might have a slim chance but idk. I’d probably have to change my major since Marshall/Leventhal is too competitive. Sucks though, my gf has been going there since I was a senior and I’m still not there yet. :(

@ Spin03: My sister went to the same university as I attend now, University California Riverside (UCR), she worked very hard all four years and maintained a 3.89 and stood out of her peers. She joined accounting society (which is offered in many universities) and took extra classes so that she could take and earn her CPA license the first year while working (which she did).

@mxbile131 - I go to UCR and business calc was a bit rough for me, but I’m really not a math person, but I studied uber hard for that class and went to my TA’s office hours and practiced countless hours of calc problems and pulled my grade from a C+ before the final to a B+ after the final. If you’re pretty competent at Algebra 2 or Math Analysis, it should be a bit of a breeze for you. Then again you took accounting 1 and 2 which are much harder than business calc, but good luck hope this helps!

skyline12,
its kind of funny my gf will be going to usc too this year but we will both be freshman except im here stuck at a jc. the good thing is im taking all the same classes as her in the fall atleast and paying waaaaaaay less. the bad thing is she is there and i am here

I submitted Part I has well. I don’t have high hopes of getting in, but I’ll give it a shot. Does anyone know the stats. for transfer to the gerontology major? I looked on the USC website but nothing is listed.

Thanks for the heads up! It’s a pretty nifty way they put it all together. I imagine it will make the whole process easier with financial aid and application links all in the same portal. Here’s the link for anybody that wants to check it out too. Interesting stuff.

I am debating whether to apply to Marshall. Right now I attend UC Davis as an Economics Major. I have a low GPA 3.3. I have solid A’s in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Statistics. However I got C’s in Calculus. My GE’s range from a C+ in Chemistry, the Applied Science GE, with B’s in the other GE’s. I will be taking the writing requirement in the Fall and hopefully will get an A.
I applied to USC out of HS, but as a science major by the pressure of my parents… stupid mistake I had nothing to back that up. I went to Lowell HS (#39 on USNews), with a weighted gpa of 3.83. My SAT score was a 2100 (630V, 780M, 690W) SAT II (620Lit, 780USH). AP’s Passed European History, US History, Psychology, English Language, MicroEconomics, MacroEconomics.
With a good year I could probably have my gpa up to a 3.55 at the end of this upcoming year. I have good extracurrics and writing a good essay shouldn’t be a problem. But I still feel I’d probably fall short. Should I retake my SAT to get that verbal score up? Would that help? Any suggestions would be helpful, or just smacking me with the truth would be also helpful.

If you have more than 30 units, they don’t look at SAT scores or anything from High school. I believe they just look at what you’re currently doing right now in UC you’re attending. Only if you have less than 30 units they would look at your scores, so there would be no need to take your SAT’s again.

hey everyone I might try to transfer next year too but im not sure yet! cause im also trying to get into the police academy good luck to everyone!

@Victrola - You should try to apply. Just keep in mind that this next semester/quarter you have to really make sure you get the grades you are aiming for. USC loves upward trends in grades. I know Marshall is pretty competitive but just really emphasize your ECs along with a great essay. If you get your GPA up to a 3.5+ range that would definitely do you some good. That’s my goal for this upcoming school year. Like shakez07 said, if you completed 30 units by the time you apply, then SAT/high school record won’t matter much which that you wouldn’t have to retake the SAT. I say go for it and give it a shot :)

I’ll be applying to USC Marshall for 2010 Fall transfer as well. 3.9 gpa, 95 creds(I’m crazy), good leadership ec’s, non-trad transfer from a cc with all business and GE cat prereqs completed. I’ve been looking into off campus housing in the neighborhood as well as downtown if anyone is interested in chatting and sharing research on that topic. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the advice guys. It’s also difficult because Davis uses the quarter system rather than a semester so I think 30 credits USC is 45 credits Davis. I guess I might as well give it a shot. I believe I read correctly for the ge’s they would take a 4 unit class from davis, which is equivalent to a 2.67 unit class at SC. Also making it difficult is the lack of articulation agreements between the two schools. I hope that makes it less rigid. I shall pursue my dream of being a Trojan!

Is anyone else having a hard time logging into the application site? I already submitted part I so obviously I have an account but the site isn’t recognizing my email address.

TheGoldFinch: the same thing happened to me. I just registered again with the same email address and profile info and when I saved the profile it took me to the page where I had part I saved already.
