johnny_boi: im applying for communication, i think theres more options with a communications degree

jhsocal: Same here, I like that it’s somewhat broad. I’m interested in film, broadcast journalism, and online media. I figure with communication I can learn about all of those things rather than just focusing on one.

How important are the Core classes for transfer students? I’m applying as a Junior transfer, but I haven’t finished most of my USC core requirements. I’ve finished the Diversity requirement though, and my major doesn’t require a foreign language…

i thought all majors require foreign language

Not all: Business Administration, Dentistry (I think?) and Architecture are just some that don’t require the foreign language requirement.

Hey
My name is Kevin, an international student. My problem is USC requires me submit my family’s financial documents notarized by a bank. Frankly, we do not have that much of money, what should I do?

Does anybody know if all transfer applicants are automatically considered for merit-based financial aid? (In other words, will I still be considered for financial aid if I don’t turn in a FAFSA or CSS?)

For the USC online application essays, short answers, and Quick Takes, should I be tailoring them to show how I fit into the Marshall school of business, or should I be making them more on the general side?

while I’m on the subject, how are you guys answering the Quick takes section?
I sort of want to answer “Greatest invention of all time” and “Favorite fictional character” with something funny. but being funny sort of backfired on me on last years apps, so I’m thinking maybe I should keep it formal

for junior transfers with more than 60 units, do we need to report our AP scores? i didn’t use any of them to get credit (i just retook the classes) at my CC so do i need to post them?

@purple - Since I think this section is about the adcoms getting to know you and isn’t taken into consideration for admission, I wouldn’t be afraid of being more casual.

@kevin - Can you contact the admissions counselor at USC and ask them what to do?

For all of us that didn’t apply by Dec 1st, are we still eligible for scholarships? It’s confusing b/c the deadlines page clearly states that transfer students jsut need to turn it in by Feb 1st for admissions/scholarships consideration, but when i look at the scholarship page…

[USC Financial Aid](http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/grants_scholarships/undergraduates/meritbasedft.html)

…most of the scholarships required us to apply by Dec 1st… :(
