@zack504 no they are not, but i did 2 of them anyways because I believed my 2 English professors could commend me on my efforts as a student and overall just give me a leg up on the application, having letter of recs will really help you if your professors or whomever is eloquent and able to express who you are in detailed writing, so be careful who you ask.

thank you xdzzzrawr, that was very helpful!

has anyones status changed since submitting the app?

Are transfer students applying to USC Marshall admitted by rolling admissions?

did anyone finish the CSS profile yet? how long does it take to finish? is it more complicated than the FAFSA?

@ Laker… I started my CSS profile and it is much more complex than the FAFSA…Give yourself a good amount of time to complete it…they ask for information frmo 2008, 2009 and what you expect to earn in 2010…and if you are only reporting from 1 parent because they are divorced, you still have to give the information on the noncustodial parent. annoying to say the least

@Zach - Pretty much everyone sends in 2 letters of rec though it is not required. Transfer students are not admitted on a rolling basis. The application deadline i February 1st and students are then notified of a decision around late May/beginning of June.

it’s gonna rain on friday! i guess there’ll be no campus tour

no! i booked a flight to go to this!

lol i highly doubt u’ll be able to get a flight to LAX. weather is horrible

:( i don’t even know what to do now…

they’ll still have the presentations. the campus tour is just mehh since they have one like almost everyday

Hey, I handed all my materials into USC but I don’t see where they said they got my college transcripts. They have everything else according to the site. How long does it usually take to process because it’s been about 2 weeks.

TRANSFER DAY ATTENDEES (Jan 22nd):
- LakerForever24 (Business Major)
- SkylineisMine (Business Administration)
- dreamingUSC (Kinesiology Pre-Medicine)
- Deborahmei (Communication)

For the CSS and FAFSA, are you all waiting for your W-2s or just freehand estimating?

I’m not sure how I’m going to be able complete them without having my W-2 documents…

deborahmei: Generally, you can use your previous year’s tax return to estimate for 2009 and then submit. If you don’t have a previous tax return, just estimate the best that you can overall. Once you have your 2009 tax returns completed you will either have to fax or mail them in. After that time, you need to adjust your FAFSA even though it has already been submitted to USC. The majority of the time, even if you make a mistake, the university will adjust the FAFSA for you accordingly since they have access to it by way of the school code that was entered.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

I just noticed (a little late), but you’re going to the transfer day at the campus. I’m sure we could have clarification on how USC specifically handles updating the FAFSA/CSS Profile.

As a sidenote, I’ll drop you guys and girls a line to see if we can possibly meet up before the transfer day.

does anyone know what USC’s policy on word count for the essay? I know that for the UCs they are relatively generous with their word count limit and won’t mind if you go a bit over the limit. anyone know if 715 words is acceptable ?
