USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@Kulakai

Thanks, that leaves me a little breathing room to work on my English essay due on Monday morning. I scrapped my personal statement nearly 5 times now and you know how these Winter English courses are, essays every other day. :S

Btw, it feels like yesterday I was in these boards around the same time last year in the USC 2009 Transfer Thread. Time sure flies.

Well, I guess I’ll join you guys and your 77 pages of posts!! I am currently a freshman at the University of Arizona, and I love it here, but USC is my dream no doubt. 3.7 GPA applying to Annenberg with a PR major. Anyone else applying to Annenberg? How’s everyone felling?!?

I need advice on one more thing.

My GPA is 3.55(I listed my other stats about 2 or 3 pages back). Should I change my first choice major to econ and second choice to business admin.? It’s the other way around currently.

@ rhandler you really shouldn’t even be asking this, you should place your first choice of major as what you really want, do not settle for another major and hope to hop to another major after you get into USC, USC Marshall admissions counselors told me it’s just as hard if not harder to transfer majors once accepted into the declared major, they say you have to apply all over again and you are not given priority to those who have chosen that major as their first choice. I repeat, do not settle for another major just so you can HOPE to transfer into another, you cannot just change majors like many universities, you must apply, if you really want to go to Marshall choose Marshall do not choose Econ and hope to transfer over since Marshall is already so competitive and has limited amounts of space, the chances of you getting in are REALLY slim to transfer within USC to Marshall. And if you end up not getting in, you will end up wasting your semester units on classes you don’t want to take as you wait to possibly transfer to Marshall, really be warned and do not take this lightly, the admissions stress that you should not take this risk as most people who attempt this transfer hopping process within USC fail.

I have a question before I submit tomorrow.

On the USC Transfer Application, under Undergraduate Application => Application, it asks for your Undergraduate GPA and Unit Count. Under GPA it says only include classes in transferable courses and under Unit Count it says do not include non-transferable courses.

That is my problem. Last year I attending University of Arizona and this year I am attending CC. Togethor (without spring) I have 50 units completed with a 3.78 GPA, but if I do not include Arizona I have a 4.0 and 23 units done.

What should I put? Only classes that are on the articulation agreement, or ALL my class I have taken as an undergraduate. Confused!

Ohh yahh, there is no articulation agreement between USC and Arizona…sooo thats the dilemna, to include them or not.

@AirUpThere15 - All of your courses from your CC should transfer as long as they are not remedial courses such as english 95 or math 95(classes to get you up to the college level). If there is no articulation agreement, courses should still transfer however some might transfer across as elective credit instead of converting into the equivalent at USC.

@AirUpThere15 Somewhere on USC’s website they say that barring any unusual circumstances, all non-remedial classes taken at any accredited four-year institution will transfer over for some credit, and therefore all classes must be included on your GPA. You also have to send them your transcript so there is no point to trying to hide it.

Can I submit my fafsa BEFORE submitting my USC application?

Got it, and is there any due date for that form on the first page we have to print out and fax in? Must that be turned in today as well?

@zac504 - yes, i think so. why not haha

@AirUpThere15 - it would be better to turn it in today, if not ASAP. only part II of the app is due, but they do want the forms ASAP. so dont lag lol

i hate how we dont find out till june 1st…how lame

@Dainese - It depends, some people heard in April last year. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/716193-usc-admitted-transfer-students-2009-a-2.html?highlight=usc</a></p>

@ zonazoo10 - hi! i’m really glad to hear from other annenberg applicants  as for myself, i’m applying as a comm major with a 3.87 GPA. i’m currently a sophomore at PCC and i’m really hopeful that I’ll be able to transfer to USC!
the best of luck to everyone!!

Strange to only discover this site after my senior year and right after I submitted my transfer app to USC. But well I’m currently a freshman at Santa Clara University and we go by quarters instead of semesters here. With only 9 units completed and one quarter passed I have a 3.4 GPA. My high school GPA was a 3.7 with various honors and AP courses taken. Many of my courses here at SCU were waived because of my AP scores. Among this, I have various volunteer activities, 4-years of varsity swimming, and heading up few community service projects. I also just realized my essay was 500 words over the suggested limit. If I raise my gpa this next quarter should i be fine? Thanks

Just submitted my online part II application and downloaded the forms I need to fax in. What exactly are they, do they take long? When do I need to send in my transcripts from different schools?

i am freaking out!
there is no “submit” button on my online application. i am done but i don’t know how to submit it.

and my courses/grades section is blocked on the leftside.

what is this!?!?!?!

If you have filled out everything there should be a submit your application button on the page right after you click Part II Undergrad app.

are our high school/college transcripts also due by the 1st? cause I haven’t sent them in yet…
